Mcgowan looked decent but 3 games is hard to tell how good he is.

 

You could add McGowan in there too, looked to have great potential until his injury.

But like people have said the main complaint was the timing of the signings but the signings did get slated at the time.

 

I very much doubt Ipswich would have considered our bid, they probanly had a laugh then look at serious offers.

 

No, it filled the positions that needed filling. It didn't strengthen any of them with better than what we had out.

 

FFS not this again.. look the window was shut and we ended up having to rush it.. we could have signed all those players at the start of the window and then pushed for some proper targets but we pissed about waiting for Blackpool to come back to us...

Why it seemed to come as a surprise to them that teams didn’t what to sell their best players is beyond me... if we wanted those players we should have known we would have to over pay for them and if we weren’t prepared to pay for them then why bother in the first place.

 

Yeah .............. Any Council will tell you they've repaired a whole street, when all they have actually done is a short term repair to 5 pot holes.

The last few games have shown all it really takes to win games is hard work.. we’ve worked harder in last few games and picked up points it’s really not rocket science even with the players we have we should have picked up a hell of a lot more points than we have done

 

Exactly, prices should've been known before the window opened, then we don't waste time going for people we can't afford

If we proceed with an unrealistic budget we will need to recruit with more wisdom than has been the case previously. I have lost faith in our transfer strategies and would welcome a less restrained and more focused approach. So much rides on the abilities of those responsible for recruitment and the Club has to move in an commonly agreed direction.We really can't have any more indecision or to and fro-ing where fees are challenged.There has to be a clear understanding that the Manager gets the players he needs and receives the total backing and support to this aim from the Board imo. We are in rebuild mode once more and it is crucial we make the right choices.

 

You can try and dress it up all you like as a strong January window but it was a shambles.

Statements about how ready we would be, how we were prepared to pay significant sums were naive overstatements at best.

What we got was a last minute scramble for bodies including a high proportion of loans, something we were told was not the philosophy of the new regime.

McGowan is the only genuine quality acquisition of our own in January as far as I am concerned, Brunker may ultimately prove useful. It would be unfair to ask him to make an impact in the final part of the season and January signings are supposed to be impact signings not speculative ones.

Guy has been great but he's not ours and probably will not be here next season.

So for me, January would have been hilarious if it had gone on at one of our rivals or our near neighbours. As it was us I didn't laugh once.

 

We will have to disagree about how well we strengthened Park. Even McGowan who I accept appears to be of high quality was brought in right at the death. Was he a long term target that we had chased all window or a lucky result of grasping at the last straws?

From recollection, I'm sure I read that the owners had stated that we had put a significant bid in for Moore. Did that not get reported?

 

Edin said they would back the manager in January "if we were there or there about's" so I would hope that would suggest significant sums, but as we know it was all smoke and mirrors, bid in for Kieffer Moore lol.

 

I think it was Greg Abbott who mentioned on radio Leeds we had made significant offers. Or words to that effect
