You don't get 750k as a div 2 club with only 6 months left on his deal. or if you do you've done a very good deal

 

All the player does is sit out his current deal and go for free in June therefore the club get nothing , or they sell at a price that will recoup them something . £3/4m is ridiculous .

 

Wigan yesterday made a 6 figure bid for Ward.

 

Word has it over here in east lancs anything around £150k and he will be gone. Us Wigan and Reading supposedly very keen on him.

 

Don't know much about him tbf.. but he's only 22 yr old so has sell on potential if he's that good.

 

He's got 18 months left, so it's not like they are in a boat where they need to sell this window.

 

Very good defender definitely one with great potential. He also can score goals and has a very good left boot.

I would say so but depends on what's happening with Kelly or tilt as he plays in their position in a back 3 at accy. He can also play LB if needs be but looks more comfortable as a CB.

 

Kelly or Ward vying for a spot….. Let me think ?

 

I really like Tilt but he's 12 years older than this benn kid and can't carry on forever and has no real monetary value at this stage. If we want to be a 'big club' we need to have the mentality of one.

 

The left boot might be the problem,we have three left footed centre back already.

McIntyre leaving could free up space for Ward? That would give us Pennington, Baldwin, Wright, Tilt & Ward as 5 to choose from for 3 positions, with Touray as back-up to that. If so, I'd happily move on Byrne and Kelly and not replace them. The lad Ashby could play right of 3 at a push (I think he did it once for QPR last season).

 

He is as good of a 3rd choice CB that you will get at this level. Gives 100% and is usually dependable in the air

His counterpart Bryne on the other hand is a worry. Not good in the air or the ground and realistically should be getting replaced before the likes of Halliday, Cook etc

 

McIntrye gone, Kelly out of contract in summer and will be gone, Tilt is 34 and has had a few injuries.

I dont think there any many reasons not to bring the kid in if we can afford the transfer fee.

You can argue a case for keeping Kelly until the summer. We need 6 recognised CBs minimum IMO. This season has been a disaster for keeping them all fit.
