It's confirmed that Wigan also have a first refusal clause on him. So even if someone does bid a magic number, Wigan have the option to match it and speak to his agent first. Although that amount for a lad who hasn't exactly torn the NL apart is insane.

Can't see him coming to City then. GA offers no such guarantees except after hard work and a good attitude.

 

Isnt it just. The numbers just dont add up and he is been waxed lyrical off a few goals in the National League.

He's very young. I'm not suggesting we get him now, that should have been last January. He was cheaper.

Scouts know what they're looking for an his attitude is excellent and his potential is high. All you see is goals.... but his pressing and hold up for a 22 year old are fantastic.

He will play top end League 1 minimum and stay there. Barring any other factors, like ACL injuries etc.

 

He looks a bit like Richie Smallwood to me. Hope he's better on corners.

 

Seen other fans slating this lad on X and Facebook. But I trust our recruitment team and GA. Every fan of a players ex teams has things to say and it's not often they're always good.

 

Might have been an either or with Metcalfe? In the summer we had Power and Pattison as well as GA determined to make Tommy Leigh a CM, so in theory there was one spot and we got Metcalfe on a long term deal? Just wild speculation from me.

 

Mixed feelings about that because it would surely signal a Halliday exit. Not sure I could cope with another of my favourite players over the past few years leaving so soon after the king.

 

Or, if we're being cynical, he backed the wrong horse. If Newcastle are going to release him in the summer, he might be thinking there's a potential Championship club he could join.
