I'm not really sure where either fit into the squad. I'm certain Pattison has lost the trust of Alexander tactically and once you lose the trust of a manager it will be very hard to regain it. With Cook for Alexander I think not including him on the bench is down to not being able to find a place for him due to the balance and how he sees others. From the bench today the only way of getting him on the bench would have been in place of Lapslie.

 

Neufville is so poor at the moment.
He doesn't make runs, touch is poor and has other players giving him grief.
A massive fall from grace.

 

Neufville And at least on the attacking side Touray have been frozen out of games by tactics of opposing teams who have learned how to stop us Touray is good defensively Neufville less so.

 

At the minute, the long diagonal balls aren't working - at all.

That was the quickest, most reliable route to getting Neufville on the ball further up the field earlier in the season, but teams have cut that out, and our long ball game lately has been atrocious.

This formation now serves us from a defensive POV (except today, obv), but offers very little going forward. We are entirely reliant on Bobby and Sarc going forward, with sporadic chances for Humph to actually get on the ball. Most of the time, though, Humph (or Swan) are just tasked with aimlessly closing down the defenders we just gave the ball to.

Without those two in attacking midfield, we are next to hopeless.

Today was a massive exception because even Power was horrendous, meaning not only were we very poor going forward, we were also very poor at the back.

 

We certainly miss Pennington at RCB. This allowed Neufville to push on knowing that he had a reliable defender behind him. If you've a concern about being caught out when going forward, you won't fully commit. Alexander has also started using T. Wright more than he did at the start, so the left side has become less productive without Bobby. Play Halliday and Wright then your attacking output drops considerably unless we replace with more creativity centrally, which we don't have. We then get what we are seeing now, scrappy 1-0's or defeats like yesterday.

 

Not sure if this has been posted, but there's a thread of clips and descriptions of the style of player for the rumoured new loanee, Hindolo Mustafa

 

Might be one to keep an eye on, but if Liam Rosenior goes to Chelsea as the links suggest, L'Equipe are saying that Cardiff manager Brian Barry-Murphy is currently in mind to replace him. Could be great for us if they suddenly have to change course.

 

So I have looked at the current squad today
Players that are probably leaving or need replacement
Cook, Patto, Leigh, Byrne, Kav, Powell, Odour,Lapslie
You could also add Richard’s and T Wright to that list for me
Sarcavic age is catching up with him, great player on his day though
Send McIntyre back
That’s 12, and that still leaves quite a few in the squad who I think have reached their ceiling
Big rebuild if the club wants to push on and serious investment needed
Will probably take a few more transfers windows
Let’s hope the ones here can continue to over achieve

 

It has happened before. Let's hope that is not the reason the signing didn't go through yesterday.

 

Why would that managerial merry go round impact us signing a lad from Palace?

 

He didn't quote the Mustapha post.. I think he's just referring to Cardiff maybe being weaker if they lose their manager.. nothing to do with the Palace lad.

Where would he play in any other system? Genuine question.

He seems to unwilling to put his foot in and tackle to be a central midfielder - a bit like Gilliead was.

He doesn't seem to have an accurate enough shot to play higher up the pitch and he isn't pacey.

He's a bit of a mystery to me really.

 

That’s fair , he’s been found out in reality, even as a utility squad member .

 

I suspect Sharp's intention was that we would hopefully consolidate in league 1 this season with a summer overhaul of players at the end of this season to push on maybe next season.

Because the standard of league 1 has been surprisingly umderwhelming this season, our squad of mainly league 2 standard players are challenging for an unexpected promotion push.

Do they now go for it this wimdow and splash the cash, or do they stick to their origimal agenda of tweeking this month and see where we end up, anf the major overhaul in the summer for a real push for top 2?

 

But we know the reason for that. Give him a chance and see how he turns out.

 

There could be any number of reasons he's not making the squad other than talent. I suppose if he does sign it'll just be a wait and see type signing.
