    That's what I read too.
Although I would imagine it's costing us by paying him a wedge in wages.

Any idea what our bid was? Do we assume it’s dead now?

Looks like Kav is heading to Oldham.

Kelly has posted on social media at the airport, so I’d guess he’s moving back to Ireland.

I can’t see Leigh or Lapslie leaving at this stage unless a really good offer comes in and even then, it feels like it would be too many outgoings in the January window.

I think we’ll see Wheatley confirmed, plus another central midfielder (we can’t see the season out with just Power and Metcalfe) and another centre back. That will probably be us done, unless we decide to go back in for Beesley.

Just speculation regarding Kelly but if it is true have we another CB coming in?

    Exactly my thoughts
Could be a busy day tomorrow
Hope dominos have plenty of dough in, or do we think the pizzas were from one of our local takeaways

Pure speculation at this stage regarding Kelly, but it does seem a little odd that he’s flying out mid season just before the end of the transfer window.

Even if Kelly stays, I think another CB arrives anyway.

I expect it will be a very very busy day, especially with the window closing at 7pm.

He had 6 months left of his contract , who pays that ? We will do as a signing on fee. So instead of a transfer fee we pay him . Thats how it works in this day and age . Hes not going to give up his alleged £16,000 a week at the drop if his hat otherwise he’d sit out his contract for another 6 months . This way gives both parties certainty and reduces County’s wage bill by about 16,000 x 26 =. Who knows the total agreed but I bet you any money you like he would have been compensated for the remaining part of his deal in some proportion or another.

There was a friend of Jacksons at the game talking to us lot before the game yesterday. He said Jackson was on £12k a week at Derby. He recently bought a house near Derby too, he hasn't moved back up here and is planning on staying put in the Midlands.

He say Derby agreed to end his deal 6 months early so we signed him on a free transfer, said him and Derby agreed a pay off to let him leave. Huddersfield wanted him but only on loan, he wanted a perm move and a long term deal but Huddersfield didn't.

You’re right Kevin, if a player has six months left and a deal is cancelled, that value doesn’t just disappear. It often gets shifted to a signing on fee, which gives the player certainty and reduces the selling club’s wage bill.

One small clarification around signing on fees though. I watched a video with Ben Foster explaining how they’re structured, and they’re very rarely paid as one lump sum. They’re usually staggered over the length of the contract.

Jackson has signed a 2.5-year deal, so any signing on fee would almost certainly be spread across that period, usually once each transfer window has closed.

If that's correct, we should go shopping at Derby more often.

This is the follow up text I got :
Kayden moves into new house in Midlands next week But will be travelling up to Bradford, he's one of our own so will be popular just needs to bang a few in. that's if he accepts the 2 year deal on offer. Huddersfield offered him a loan deal.

So basically what we did with Halliday is what Derby did with jackson?

not really ground breaking news. That sort of thing happens all the time

Bowyer defo sounds like he may lose Beesley hopefully we go back in for him. Regards Kelly leaving we probs don’t need another left sided centre half with tilt and touray . I really don’t rate wright I think every time he plays we look shaky at the back so ideally someone who can play centrally. Defo need a midfielder too

They are having a massive clear out it seems. In even stranger things, Richard O'Donnell is on amazing form in the championship at Derby
