I think we need to rethink the formation and at the very least play 3 in midfield if the other team starts with 3

In a nutshell , his anticipation is pathetic. He’s a yard behind everyone else’s thinking.

When McGuane got his second yellow it would have been the ideal time to introduce Andy Cook to the affray, but hey we can only speculate what might have happened.
With regards Andy Cook as long as there is no reaction to playing more game time I honestly believe he will be a big part of Grimsby getting a play off place, even though without him Grimsby have just recorded their fifth successive clean sheet and claimed 13 points from a possible 15 since Christmas.

What we thinking is there any chance we can sign Langstaff from Millwall or have we missed that opportunity?

We'll never know as long as Alexander persists in playing Humphrys as a striker, he's look at his most dangerous for us and the opposition when he cuts in from wide positions, but as the saying goes "You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make it drink".
Discussing yesterdays game and our lack of a threat in the final third, we could finish the season with our leading goal scorer in single figures, depending on our defence keeping clean sheets that IMO will not be good enough to get us a play off place never mind an auto place.

He’s been back in the team at Millwall over the last few weeks. Not happening in a million years.

I don't think it was ever more than wishful thinking by some tbh. Starting regularly for Millwall now as well so I'd say the chance is lower than zero.

Will GA swallow his pride on Humphrys though and drop him back behind a striker? Im not sure he will as he’s stubborn. Now would be the ideal time to do it, really, as Bobby isn’t 100% on it (for now…..he will be soon again).

As much as GA has done for this football club in the years he's been here, his win rate, promotion etc sometimes you have to admit you've got it wrong. We've had a lot of stubborn managers in the past and if they don't adapt or change, it only ends in one outcome. Even though I'm not advocating that.

Just playing devil's advocate here, let's say we only sign Wheatley and that's that. This quote/screenshot needs to be brought up at that mid season fans forum in February.

I think the issue with even that, which is logical, is that Humphrys doesn't seem to have any interest in setting up goals (or even passing at times).

I think he's one of those players that, while obviously quite talented, won't reach his potential at a bigger club - and will perform only at smaller clubs where he's clearly the star player and allowed all of the ball.

And even then I don't see him scoring 15 goals a season.

The biggest reason why Humphrey isn’t scoring and why Swann has also dropped off is the fact that they have no supply. Early season and we were creating for fun. The chance that Humphrey missed against Cardiff was one of very few bad misses. The problem that needs sorting is getting back some creativity

Park, I think he scored 1 goal in his first 10 games or something.

I don't see the link between us creating lots and SH scoring lots?

I also can't envisage him creating lots for others, which was the primary point of the post.

That front 3 has chopped and changed so much, that none of the players are getting a consistent run of games. I believe the problem is the 2 man midfield and playing one up top. The sooner we're able to put 3 in there and give one of them the freedom to roam, the quicker the goals will come.

That ref yesterday would have blown every time Cook went near anyone. Going down in every challenge with a ref like him works a treat against our normal in ya face style.

Cook had chances and did very little in his cameos - and now he has gone. What we should have done is had a player in the buding the day he left.
