Jatta is too much of a gamble. We've no evidence that he can hack it in L1, so to spunk £750k+ on him (plus wages for several years) simply won't happen.

Wheatley will come in and then we're probably done for strikers. I'd expect us to sign another centre back and possibly another specialist LWB if we're planning to utilise Touray at LCB.

 

But he doesn't score enough goals

 

I dont disagree on Jatta but £750k might be a risk we have to take on somebody.

A new CB and a new LWB? Today we had J Wright on the bench with Pennington, Kelly and Byrne in the stands. Collecting defenders isnt wise when we have more pressing concerns.

 

Kelly and Byrne should stay in the stands, which leaves us with Pennington and J Wright as cover. If Ibou reverts to LWB, we're short of L1 quality centre backs given our injury record there.

FWIW, I would rather spend the money on attacking options, but was commenting on what I think the reality will be.

I agree we need a quality left centre back. Touray does OK, but I prefer him at LWB.

 

I think Sarcevic needs resting to be honest. He's just not getting into the good areas of the pitch like earlier in the season. His link up with Neufville isn't working, but that could be because Neufville hasn't been able to get further up the pitch. I also think Bobby is at risk of losing his place. We need someone who can affect the game both at home and away if we're to stay in and amongst the front runners.

 

Alot been made of Huddersfield bringing a new boss in for next week. Look at the record of our mid season apppointments in their first game in charge...

As a previous poster said we need cover for Sarce, maybe that's why we've been linked with Elliot Lee. Maybe the 2-3 players is 2 strikers and Lee. I just hope GA isn't putting all his eggs in one basket with just Wheatley up front.

 

I'm still not sure why we've sent Mcintyre back to Portsmouth. Can cover CB and LCB and looked decent each time he was called upon. The only thing that makes sense to me is we've maybe got a defender coming in on a permanent, otherwise why not just keep Tom until the end of the season?

 

I can’t see him being that naive tbh. I think Wheatley is a possibility but maybe spending big as well for the proven striker which won’t be cheap.?

 

No secret we have been watching Ward at Accrington. I think we bring one in, but McIntyre was sent back out of pity from the sound of things. GA felt he needed football.

GA seems to think Sibley is a LWB so that has freed up Touray to move to LCB.

The lad was happy to stay but his contract is up in June and he wouldn’t play much here so GA took it out of his hands and cancelled his loan.

 

According to the 'oracle' that is Alan Nixon this morning Accy are wanting £500k for a player that is out of contract at the end of the season...

 

It feels like this one may go right to the end of Jan and they'll probably end up taking half that if no one panics and tries to get him in early but there's plenty of clubs sniffing around so it certainly wouldn't surprise me.

I'm not convinced by Humphs, holds on to the ball too long sometimes and tries to dribble/barge his way through instead of playing the easy ball... he does look better coming in from the left. He's not a CF by any means. He tries but that's what some think T. Wrights attribute is, trying.

 

Elliot Lee would be a great acquisition
