Good CEOs also know their business usually by experience

Yes and no, however they still want to know the really big ticket stuff , especially on behalf of those who is his /hers “ boss”, the owner ( He’s providing the money) in this case or a board of directors they provide dividends to shareholders .

That's all well and good when as Steve says above, the CEO knows their business. When they don't, as in Sparks case, it leads to more harm than good.

I’m sure Fordy will offer his own expertise and experience in running a multi million £ business. I’ll wait .

Its well documented where our problems are.
Its not the Stadium , the training ground , the fans. The current manager. (how many managers during this time, they cant all be bad)
We have an owner that tells us one thing ,then appears to do the other and a CEO who is clueless when it comes to football, although i will give him credit for the commercial side.
Gent's sourcing of players is hillarious.
My hope was David Sharpe, but we have seen little from him so far and he still has to report to apprentice captain admin.
My hope now is that Rupp finally realises his error in putting Sparks in charge and moves him on and replaces with Sharpe, but i wont hold my breath.
Rupp unfortunately is going nowhere with his apparent asking price and we are going no where with this CEO.
My belief that we could do something this year is fading fast and Saturday is a big game and 3 points is a must, with much harder fixtures to come through December
Victory at Morecambe in the Fa cup is also crucial for that potential January boost. Although with this current set up, would they be able to spend any potential windfall correctly/

I think this is our 6th season back in league 2 and bar a brief meeting with the playoffs under Hughes we haven't really improved or moved forward on the pitch. We can debate till the cows come home but those 6 seasons and the two before it in league one have been nothing short of a pathetic embarrassment. There is a collective responsibility but ultimately the fault lies with an owner who has shown no sign whatsoever of wanting the club to be successful other than to balance the books.

That’s entirely fair ….hes made it obvious he isn’t going to pour money into the club like the dollar rich owners in the division , aka Carlisle, Gillingham , who without any injury woes are performing way way worse than us at the moment ( That’s a side issue) , however it’s clear he’s supporting the club on an “ as we are basis” in the hope he finds a buyer or mystery wealthy fan willing to invest ( Ha, ha)

It’s not going to happen any time soon if at all.

He has to decide at the end of the day….one of three options.

    Stick
    Twist
“Walk away” without spending a further Euro, without a buyer.

He’s happy to take the first one and unless it changes we are stuck despite what others claim to be an option …he sell to the mystery buyer that’s “ just around the corner” .

Anyone else is just an employee of Rupp doing Rupps bidding , no matter what we like to think.

The cause of this malaise , goes back many, many , many decades .

The real shame here Mr Tart, is that we have a history of underachievement and lack of investment , going back decades.
We are in the same boat and pissing in the same pot as when i started going down to VP in the mid 70's.
Yes we had Big Geoff and what a ride that was, a couple of other highs , the late 80's and the Parky regime. but in all honesty its been basically very poor fare.
I suppose i, and many just accept what we are, we know very little difference. I believe we are forever to be an if only kind of club.

I often wonder, where we would be as a city , if we had only had one club.
How much having two professional clubs until 1970 , split the potential support and finances.
Certainly the stadium at Park Avenue was far better than VP with space around to extend and modernize.
Could you imagine the benefits of having a Headingley type set up there.

I don't believe we are in the same boat as the 70s Andy. The big difference now is that we have a large supporter base to offer a buyer some potential.

Not owning anything is obviously a huge negative but unlike the 70s and 80s, I do feel the facilities and supporter base could potentially sustain the club as high as the championship should we attract the correct people to own the club.

Surly the time was in the summer knowing this league was gonna be weak ?????

Sadly we all know whats coming we will probably be off the pace the bullshitters will make out that the winter budget will go towards rezl investment in the summer and the cycle goes on.

And if i am wrong and there is investment why the fook would you put any money near a recruitment team that really are the pits ?????

Although VP has a number of shortfalls, it is in a far better shape than it was in the 70’s early 80’s. If we hadn't endured the fire and subsequently Richmonds big building spree, then I think it would be similar to Boundary Park. The stadium and support is probably capable of getting to the Championship.

There may not be many football men as CEO's but the vast majority have a track record in business.

I get that it's not an exact science, in theory every team could come to the table with money and a plan but only four out of that potential 24 will be successful. But to only hit the playoffs once in five years and fail at the first hurdle shows something needs changing. It may well be this season, I haven't seen anything to suggest it will be although injuries have played a big part. Luck also plays a big part though I'm a firm believer you make your own luck in this world.
