Don't rate him at all, I'd take Kurtis Guthrie back before him.

As far as I am aware Dave, Armstrong can't even get into a very poor Carlisle side - and some say that Danny Ward and Martyn Waghorn are no good for us!!!!!!! :joy:

City Vent hinting on twitter that they've heard Vadaine Oliver will be taking a mutual termination deal.

In other words they are paying him off the rest of his contract to free up a squad place.

It's best all round. Some you win, most we lose. Never had a run a games, but never looked like he deserved a run of games. Totally ineffective as a leader of the line or scoring goals. I could see him turning up lower down in our league this season, before eventually playing in the national league.

It isn't that simple though. @Jordan@Jordan posted a few days ago but the defence is coping at the minute because of the way we set up and I agree.

If we suddenly change that and go slightly more cavalier, this defence when exposed would concede far more. Isolating our wide central defenders is a huge risk with the current personnel as we've seen multiple times already this season.

It should have been done during the closed season surely Alexander had seen enough to realise he was not the man to either lead the line or partner Cook.

Completely agree Bronco. A huge mistake, it was obvious to everyone on here he was never gonna do anything, why can't the club see these things when we can?

In an ideal world Dave is right , but money is the driver, either lack of it or waiting for potential loan bids .( Remember he did go to Stevenage last season) . Neither materialised so we were stuck.

Not sure how paying a players contract up works. do we pay the remainder of his contract off on a monthly basis or money up front but reduced because the player gets it in a lump sum ?.

Either, I would think Dave , some clubs add clauses too I believe

Too numerous to mention. “You can’t play for anyone else whilst we are paying your wage” , NDA’s
    and so on.

There are no specific rules in this situation other than general employment law. It's unusual for the existing contract to cover this eventuality. They're invariably settled by negotiation. There are for example specific taxation advantages for both parties of structuring these kinds of agreements in particular ways. All of that will be fed into the negotiations.

There are so many examples of these kinds of settlements in footie which the PFA (and probably the clubs' lawyers) will know about that it will probably be a matter of tweaking a previous one once the principles have been established.

It's different for all i'd guess. Some want every penny they signed for, some just want out listening to ex players on podcasts. Usually negotiated with the agents and club i'm guessing.

I can't remember who it was now as I had it on Spotify in the background whilst working fairly recently, but on an i'm sure it was under the cosh episode, someone was talking through leaving i think it was Blackpool and they offered to terminate the deal and the first offer was for like 20% of the remaining money, they settled at 50% because he just wanted out as quickly as possible. He wanted all the money signed for, but they said they'd just keep him on the books then. If he wanted out early, he'd need to accept a cut. Guessing there's something contractual around it all.

They surley will never pay a player up completely otherwise might as well keep him

    Suppose depends on the situation

A young player might take 20% and move straight to another club

A donkey like oliver will want the most he can get, say 50% knowing he's on the scrap heap

    Just guessing like
