Think a Peterborough type club would come in for pointon, a club who don't mind speculative punts on players that will either benefit their team or will benefit the bank balance in two or three years time, pointon still has the potential to do either.

Oh come on, what recent evidence do we have that selling such as Pointon, Cook or J Walker this window would lead to any reciprocal investment in January and/ or improvement in the squad? No of course not, we all know that; why would anyone think otherwise?

At one time Sparks claimed that City had a close relationship with Leeds United. I wonder if he has approached them about a loan deal for Luca Thomas currently on a short loan at York City.
He sounds like the type of dynamic forward we need.. His current contract expires in 2025 and Daniel Farke has suggested he could do with some Football League experience.

The City Vent have put out a rumour about us being in for Tom Lorpendo from Town on loan. 19 year old pacey midfielder apparently.

Been a few rumours thrown around today it seems.

Spoke to a town fan about him, said he needs men's football fast. Stands out a mile with the kids but looks frightened to death in the first team, saying he was like a fish out of water against Bolton last week.

Highly rated by the last two or three managers there though

Not heard of Iorpenda, but there must be something about him. Was in the conversation for more minutes and they didn't want to loan him out for the first half of the season.

Until we have a proper strategy and infrastructure in place to use the money wisely, I wouldn't shift anyone on. You've seen (and commented numerous times) about the amount of poor transfer business we conduct. No doubt you'd be at the ready when the first deal is done. I don't believe Pointon will leave before the summer.

On the other side of the coin , we hang on, he hangs on until his current contract runs out and he leaves for absolutely NOTHING? It’s a balance , one in favour of the player whether we like it or not….

Did he sign a 2 year deal in the summer? If so we could cash in at the end of this season, but I'd be looking to build a team with him being integral to it. If we're miles off again I can see him leaving, but no way even we would let him slip through our hands for nothing.

I wouldn't because as a fan I'll see no benefit.

I'm absolutely certain the club would sell at any derisory fee that happened to come their way though.

I think a Pointon departure SHOULD be treated differently to any other potential outgoing in the squad by the powers that be, not much faith that they would though. Whilst there is still and undercurrent of 'Rupp Out' and a seemingly growing size of the fanbase that want a new CEO, selling Pointon whilst the team are struggling or outside of a promising position could be a move they can't recover from in my eyes.

The ship isn't sailing smoothly and results aren't exactly inspiring, even when we get 3 points. The transfer dealings are being questioned maybe more than ever since Rahic left? Every negative result will get a smattering of GA out/Rupp out/Sparks out tweets and messages online, and the 'get out' thread on here gets traction for a few days. Whilst they have the fanbase seemingly split, or at least there are a sizeable portion that have had it with SR&RS, selling the only homegrown first team player could be a nail in the coffin for a lot of this fanbase I'd say. Whether he delivers or not, there is a buzz when Pointon plays and the fanbase would rather see him than most other options in his role. Selling him to a Peterborough type and bringing in a young lad on loan would be so demoralising.

Let’s assume they don’t sell Dave , and I’m playing the devils advocate of course, he continues to gradually improve , we still don’t get promoted , he leaves on a free in 18 months?

But we won’t know what is a derisory fee or not is meanwhile ?

Don’t mistake this for advocacy in selling him, it’s not, but the conundrum all clubs face with upcoming squad members.

And what will be publically reported …..” Undisclosed”, so it will always remain “ derisory” . Nobody wins I’m afraid , other than the player.

Selling Pointon would re-enforce my belief that Rupp & co neither want promotion nor fund div 1 wages, letting a half decent player go now means we will only ever leave this league by the trap door ....

I have never understood fans getting excited at the prospect of a high transfer fee. That isn't a dig at people here; I'm talking more about other clubs if anything. Notts County fans got excited at the fee they got for Longstaff. How's that serving them? How much of the Toney money did Peterborough fans see? And there are other examples. I would much rather see our best players leave for free after contributing to the club on the field than be sold to fund Rupp's latest car. I really hope Pointon isn't sold, that said I don't think he will be in January.

Not one to delve into the clubs accounts, but do we know if Rupp actually takes any sort of owners remunerations- directors fees.
I am pretty sure he does not need the money, although that never stops many of the multi rich with there noses in the trough.

Makes you wonder where the Young money and the sell on from that kid (Wolves to Pool) has gone. Because it certainly hasn't been invested in transfer fees.

I said similar a couple of months ago, although probably didn't explain it the way it should have been.
You only have to look at the fact we remain the "nearly team" does indeed tell you all we need know. Avoiding the dreaded trap door but equally avoiding the expense of promotion.
But in doing so keeping just enough interest going by being there or thereabouts.
I really don't get how anyone cannot see what is really going on
