I just hope now with the acquisition of the new LWB, we can relieve Wright of his wing back roles an play him further forward. It's not much but can't be any worse than what we got

This makes a lot of sense. My concern is that the Kavanagh role is very high intensity and it doesn't appear that Mellon is match fit. We've got eight games in the league in the next month. I wonder if there might now be a role for Jamie Walker albeit from the bench? He can certainly do the hard running in the last twenty minutes or so.

If we all had that negativity, no clubs would sign anyone

I would like Jamie to be back involved but I feel like his contract situation in the summer may have annoyed some people at the club, likely the manager maybe? It’s odd that he’s completely out the team when tbf to him, he’s always chipped in with goals and pressed well

It would seem churlish to be paying his wages and not have him contributing when we have a great opportunity to finally get out this league.

That used to be the case where you could sign 'emergency loans' for up to 3 months but FIFA stopped that 10 years ago as teams were taking advantage of it and using them to strengthen the team rather than cover for an injury crisis like it was intended. Now loans have to be from transfer window to transfer window or season long, the only loans allowed outside the transfer window are for goalkeepers if you don't have a goalkeeper available who's made 5+ starting professional appearances.

Is that it then? No Tomkinson type announcement 4-5 days after deadline?

I am surprised like many that we didn't sign another striker but two of the strikers that left Oliver and Smith didn't play so it's not lost that way. I have feeling like others have said that we may now see Wright as alternative upfront but I just also wonder if Walker cones back in to the reckoning as a back up forward.

True and that's a risk we are taking but clearly Alexander just like the fans didn't trust Oliver nor Smith to fire us to glory either

Getting Oliver moved on is success in itself

Free agent striker market is slim pickings too.

Theres Martyn Waghorn, now 35 and didn't make a dent at Northampton this season. Connor Wickham, a career crock who's played just 140 minutes of football since sping 2023. Jack Stretton, 23 years old released by Stockport yesterday. He was thought to be one for the future a few seasons ago but a bad ACL injury kept him out for over a year and Stockport outgrew him. Jordi Hiwula, now 30 years old and some time since he was a goal threat. Alex Jakubiak, 28 year old forward who's been dotting around the Scottish leagues for years. Had a few decent at best spells in his career.

Other than that, unless you're finding some randomer from around Europe, it's not that impressive a pool.

Facts, harsh reality and pragmatism always get the way unfortunately. Clearly you said “ words” , without mentioning Mellon who fits your bill, nor Kavanagh who was actually signed , who also fits your bill to a “ T” . Both have come from the CC right?

So who would you “ drop” to get him involved …..Bobby, Sarcevic or Pattison.? Why would a deal coming to an end “annoy” anyone other than the player who isn’t getting game time because others are ahead of him. I don’t understand why GA would be annoyed , on the contrary as a manager I bet he’s pleased he has midfield riches at his disposal.

Is that what you are suggesting play him on the left of the three INSTEAD of Bobby Pointon . Remember we don’t play 442 any more so what position do have you in mind and who would you drop to make room? Fair question?
