Since Rahic left, it's been to minimise the custodians requirement to fund or provide any leadership. Despite recent letters, nothings changed.

January comes, Cook gets together with his agent and (topically) says get me out of here...

Is anyone going to begrudge or blame him for that?

I Can see it happening personally he probably has 18 months left before age and fitness will take it's toll. He definitely has it him to get the goals to either take or keep someone up, but unfortunately it certainly wouldn't be us

 

I think Cook will wait until the summer to be honest. He turns 35 early into next season, i think that will be his last one. He might want to look for a promotion but I just cant see it this winter. He wont move at this stage, doesn't his wife or family run a pub or something in the north east? Recently married, he might not want to move too far away or spend 4/5 hours a day in this car at this stage in his career.

Unless Doncaster offer him a good one to go play with Sharp up top and try bang out a promotion, or Carlisle throw him a Wyke type mental offer for the last 18 months of his career, I think he stays put.

 

The thing that will keep him here is how close he is to becoming our 2nd all time top scorer. Yes he could go somewhere else and have a better chance of getting promoted but if he stays with us, he is guaranteed legendary status for life.

 

Could he do a couple of years as player/manager ...?

I can see any team in league 2 coming in for him, if it’s made known he might be available. Probably 18 month deal with an option of an extra year based upon appearances

 

He's probably not good enough but we gave it a try with him and Lewis and now what?? We've stopped. Not tried anyone else. Why? God knows, but if we were trying to emulate the Peterborough model then it needs some time to refine the approach and get a decent scouting operation up and running. To me it just feels like a combination of some people at the club thinking it's too hard and the manager not wanting to risk any budget on speculative signings.

 

You can’t emulate Peterborough overnight it took them about 30 years for Barry Fry and an awful lot of “ reinvested” money to bring it to the status it is today . They only had Norwich and Ipswich above them in the East Anglia attraction stakes . The relationship and promises made and fulfilled with all the non league clubs in the area and beyond took years to forge . If started tomorrow it would fail as we have too much competion

 

He aint good enough - thats why he is playing for TNS in the Welsh Premier. Hughes and Alexander both saw enough of him.

 

He's not even starting every game in the Welsh Prem. He has 10 starts from 19 apps this season in all comps. He has had 1 start in the league in the last 6 weeks. He did score 4 in one match in the Welsh Cup this season against Llangollen Town who are Welsh 3rd tier, christ knows what equivalent level that is to the English tier but Vadaine might even score.

 

Its amazing isnt it - we sign shite, see they are shite and off load shite. Yet some fans want to see them 'given another chance'.

Its shite like Wilson on the books which is why we are midtable fodder in the khazi league. We have to do better!!! Sorry, but he had a chance and he is a squad player in the Welsh league for a reason!!!!!

 

Whats the crack with Diabetes? Is he injured, out of favour? He can go back on January 1st for all I care.

 

He's out of favour and falling further behind the pecking order now that Kelly and Baldwin are back. I presume he will go back to Exeter next month.

 

That's probably the case, no drama.

He'll be going back for sure, well down the order in an area we need to improve on, cant imagine Exeter will want him here as 6th choice.
