I was thinking more in football terms, current league position and also current financial strength-buying power.
we are exactly where we where.
Granted VP is a world apart from the hovel it was prior to the disaster and yes we can pull more fans, but how long in league 2 , before it does start to move south to the 6 to 8000 dfiehards/ idiots

Can't disagree with any of that, if it wasn't for the run under Stafford and Jack Tordoff and Big Geoff's roller coaster we are effectively just a club like Rochdale.
I was discussing this with Bronco the other day, the one thing the club has hit on, and which wasn't around even during the heady days mentioned earlier, is the supporter base. Hard to rationalise, we've had 7/8 seasons of absolute garbage, a price rise from the ridiculous £149 to £249 yet we are averaging around 16,000+ for home games this season.
Stefan Rupp doesn't know how lucky he is to have that sort of backing, something he needs to take into account when folk don't deliver the results.

If we stay in league 2, which I'm pretty sure is guaranteed, the crowds won't drop to anywhere near that.

He certainly is lucky. Without the numbers we pull , we would be looking at survival to stay in the football league and he would need to put his hand deep into his pocket to maintain it, or just go bust and write it off. Administration again.
I think we have supporter apathy, we generally accept poor results year on year, because in my opinion we have paid less than £8 as an adult to attend matches. Its a cheap day out , especially if you have a couple of kids.
I look at last years so called protest. It really was a damp squib, with less than a hundred out of a potential 12 to 13000 shouting for change,

I will always be there, but it could just be the wake up call they need.

We can bring all the injured players back and we still don't have competition for the undroppable keeper and a goal scoring alternative to Cook.

Also sounds like a Private Detectives combo. With Vadaine, he could be classed as clueless.

He clearly can’t ’detect’ where the goal is, and ‘solve’ his problem of not scoring.

    6 to 8 thousand?

That's still double what it was in the 70s so I still think there's a case to suggest that we're nowhere near the 'hand to mouth' club were back then.

    Agree with your view.

The right hand column is the average attendance.

When some go on about the ‘old days’, there weren’t many who actually experienced it. Tw0 seasons stand out among the low figures 1976 & 1981.

Compare it with the modern attendances.

Compare the late 60’s through to the early 80’s, with the figures since 2008 over seventeen seasons.
The current level has held up very well. Let’s face it for eleven of those seventeen, City have been in the fourth tier.
Despite the low league position, the average attendance over a season would be comparable to the lower levels of the Championship.
If we actually got there, I think we would sell over 18,000 season Tickets and sell out the full away capacity fairly regularly.
With Pay on the Day, you could regularly expect potential gates in excess of 22,000.

People keep going on about the size of our crowd and it being down to cheap season tickets and how we will lose people if prices go up etc etc. But, in my view, I think this level will persist. It's down to kids from years ago going with parents who are now ingrained in going week in week out. Look at the Yoof away from home locally...I know most are 16 / 17 / 18 and they have grown up going home and away and that will continue....

I was there, with my 16 year old who is passionate, protesting.....

Think it would be a sell out pretty much each week tbh....at least initially.....look at the crowds we've had for some games over the last few years in League 1!!

When you say fanbase will put up with it, what do you actually mean?

Every fan I know is fed up with been stuck in league 2 and watching rubbish, but without turning our back on the club we love, what do you expect us to do?

Are you in Fordy's club, have a pop at loyal fans but do nothing yourself about it?

It puts to bed the idea that attendance figures would drop by any significant number despite the poor football on show. Certainly the numbers actually turning up might not always be true to that figure but its all about those season tickets sold, its just a shame tickets sold doesn't equate in any way to a guarantee of success.

We all want a change in the clubs trajectory, it just looks like it will not happen under this regime and their strategy.
There appears to be no actual plan other than stumble along and hope for a massive bag of good fortune.
We have had managers with good track records at this level and one who all of us thought would not be in charge of a club like ours.
All have been given the boot by Sparks, as soon as it got a bit sticky. Non given any time to really implement their policy, although one or two have not helped themselves, by being stubborn.
We are stuck in this circle, going round and round and getting nowhere.
The white knight is not even a dot on the far horizon, so we just have to suck it up and get on with it.
