I know it was just a rumour but Stockton nowhere to be seen in the Burton squad at Derby tonight.

 

So far I would say we have weakened in terms of our keeper, but strengthened in terms of loanee wingers. Wright is better than Tulloch and Afoka.

However, we must replace Young when he inevitably goes, and not with a journeyman on a free or a cheap loan signing.

Wasn't one of the reasons he signed for us because he wanted to move back up north for family reasons?

 

I think Wright is Youngs replacement.

Wright's last couple of games for us last year were up front alongside Oliver where he did very well and was named MOTM in both games

So, I reckon Wright will be vying for the role alongside Cook with Smith

My point is we're not replacing Young, he's not been in the 18 for the last 15 months. So how are we replacing him? He was replaced last January, we won't miss from our squad because he's not been in it

 

Yeah I got this also from a good source , same source gave me the Wright info at 2:42pm along with Oliver to Stevenage put them both on Facebook about a hour before club announcement, so he come good about the Wright, I’m bit more skeptical about the Oliver one

 

We were told he was being brought back to play. If he goes, he needs replacing.

Absolutely yes, I only rate Cook but if players come in up front it's to replace Derbyshire or Oliver not Young

 

Lets talk about this summers recruitment. Taylor's signing made no sense. Mcdonald is good on the ball but thats about it. To accomodate him, you need to play a diamond so you have someone to break up play (Smallwood), a ball winner (Gillead) and an attacking player (Walker), basically a diamond. Doesnt make sense when you need to play 3 at the back to accomodate Taylor due to his lack of pace an positional sense. Then bringing in Wilson, Tulloch, Afoka when you already have Pointon, Chapman an Odour.

Like, What exactly goes on in the transfer room? I get it. We need to plan for the future, have contingencies in place. So that if the manager fails, the next one has the right tools to pick up the pace. But theres a massive discrepency between what Hughes needed, an what Gent brought in. They are supposed to be on a similar wavelength. Its clear to us all that they are not.

When Parky was here, he wanted ready made pros. You knew that, I knew that, everyone knew that. Baldwin did that. Provided the resources, prioritised what the manager needed. I dont want to see a repeat here with Alexander of him wanting to play a certain style an needing certain players, an then Gent going out an buying the complete opposite.
