A small fee and off the wage bill for me - coming from Blackburn he must be on at least £3k a week. Im not against him staying but I just see a bigger upside if he goes. He would probably be last on my MFs and FWs to go mind.

Until we get into the debate of whether or not we paid off his contract and the fee just covered that !

There's no debate, it's fact that it happens.

Agree Dave, but it largely depends on how the opponent sets up. The last two games he played as case in point.

Derby, reasonably expansive , with 3 at the back and a fairly decent attacking formation. Chappy had a decent game for sure with him and Bobby able to play an expansive game.

Playing the exact same formation at Colchester ( With a couple of personnel changes)

Colchester setting their stall out to defend meant Chappy and Bobby had less space and found it difficult to go through the lines, the complete opposite to Derby.

One step forward, one step back?

Wigan are seemingly next in line for Jake Young. They are linked by TeamTalk after Wrexham have bid for the Wigan striker Stephen Humphrys, with the striker expected to want to join the L2 side. Assuming if Humphrys leaves, that means Wyke certainly wont as well.

It's just not that easy unless we're in the business of cancelling/paying off contracts but doing that puts a bad reputation on us.

Only chance we have is if another team is interested and then we can wangle it by paying them off and accepting a fee in return like Forest Green did.

He's still with us. Sounds like he will leave if West Brom can find another club for him

As of June 2023 they still owed £2.3 to the taxman. Not sure if this was paid off with all the other debts in the last 6 months by new owner Billionaire Danson. I suspect it may have been.

No issues from me. Halliday, Richards, Gilliead, Pattison, Walker, Pointon, Smith, Cook are the only ones I would want to keep. Rest are either bang average or absolutey shite.

That's 8 out of 24 contracted players. Pretty sure majority would agree with that as well.

Wouldn't be bothered about keeping Smith and Richards. So 6 for me.

Similar thoughts to @Idlebantam@Idlebantam on Smith and Richards. Smith hasn't made the most of his chances, doesn't seem to have the consistency to me a main player in the team but wouldn't be against him as squad depth. Just checked and he's had 3 goals from 35 efforts (only 13 on target) in L2 this season, not the best of turnarounds.

And Richards needs to get some fitness in him to see what player we actually have. He played 5, then missed 9, then came back for 6 and has missed 6 league games since. He had ankle surgery this time last season and was out for 4 months to cut his 2nd loan spell at Harrogate short, seems he just hasn't been able to stay fit since. His first loan spell at Harrogate in 21/22 when they stuck to his youth training and used him as a centre back, he had a serious groin injury that ruled his first loan spell short there too. Hopefully not, but all signs so far are pointing towards another crock.

Ditto on Smith & Richards. Tomkinson could go back for me as well. I'd also assess the long term fitness of Pattison. We can't afford two passengers in the squad.
