Didn't score but came on as a late sub, I doubt he was anywhere near fit enough for any length of time.

The talk of Vadaine Oliver made me think more about big Jim and how lucky we were to have such a player at our club when we did. An absolute workhorse who might not have been the most skilful but gave everything in attack and defence and never put in less than 100%.

In seven full seasons here, he never played less that 38 games (all comps) in a season and only once failed to hit double figures.

A totally different animal to Cookie in his skillset, but imagine them as a pairing in a League Two khazi league team. They would have been as equally effective as Campbell and Hawley were if you played to the strengths of two bigger men up front.

We should remember him a lot better than some do.

Quite right General we should remember him better. I see in both today's Yorkshire Post and T&A GA refers to City fans as carrying round "a bag of bitterness" and it's time to put the bag down. He's clearly been on this site and read the endless bile from certain keyboard warriers who I believe are the target of his comments. Even after last week's win at MK the usual moaners were out and about peddling negativity. A win is a win and I said then how many times have we been mugged over the years. Last week we were the muggers, take it for what it was.
On Tuesday we were the better team, as I think we should proove to Grimsby in two weeks. The next three games, on paper at least should give us max points and if not lay off the bitterness, as GA suggests, leave the bag at home.

I doubt the pairing would work at all. Neither have the pace to compliment the other’s guile. Football has moved on from “ Two big men up top”.
I can’t think of one team with that type of combo anymore, whereby it “forces” the team to lump big high balls in from every direction. The game is not played like that nowadays. Long may it continue.

Stop over analysing it. I know Hawley & Campbell wouldn't work in todays game, but I'm not referring to todays game, I'm just pontificating and remember a great servant with fondness.

Stop fantasising therefore ….Works both ways;)

What is wrong with analysing a “ suggestion “ no matter how……………? You put it out there, I replied. It’s called debate .

Don't be daft. Just accept the post for what it means and remember Jimbo in the manner we should instead of being so damn argumentative.

To be fair that's only the last few years its faded out. Parkys successful Bolton team had two big numpties up top, two big numpties at centre half, hoofball only a couple of years ago and it was effective. If GA had the option there he would certainly try Jim and Cook upfront, especially when chasing a game.
