Sparks went to Woodhouse Grove and then Huddersfield Uni so he is fairly local

Bobby Pointon is the only real positive atm, it’s exciting he’s come through our academy so hopefully there’s more to come. He was the best player on the park against a solid league 1 side today, the sort of performance where opposing fans say we could do with someone like that.

But it’s hard overall atm, but it will get better but unfortunately I don’t know when. Crap owners, CEO’s and players don’t last forever. The club and its fans do.

I accept the points about Sparks. Totally disillusioned in every other way.

Sparks is local. But is that you want? Only folk from Bradford to run the club.

Football goes in cycles and unfortunately we follow a club that has more downward trends than ups. I've followed the club for almost 50 years and in that time have seen just 6 promotion seasons - not great is it?!
We live in hope for the good times though which when they do come, feel all the more enjoyable. After more than 10 years of rapid decline including 2 admins nobody saw the 2013 season coming. I actually dont think we are in as hopeless position as we were post Taylor/Jackson although admittedly things arent great right now.

I think there is still a point.

This is my 58th season and I think its 7 promotions in my lifetime.

I know we all crave success, the thing is, since our short spell in the Premiership, and the massive rise in season ticket holders since the beginning of the Mark Lawn era, a lot of fans think we have a devine right to be in the Championship or even league 1. It doesn't work like that.

Yes, the years under Rupp have been in the main fairly depressing and he has taken us a long way backwards under his tenure.

I still go, because I genuinely look forward to the pre match pint with family and friends and even the match itself.

Admittedly, I didn't have the appetite to rush home from work yesterday lunch time and attend yesterday, although I would definitely have been there for a league match.

As soon as we appoint the new manager, which I would expect this coming week, I think most fans will settle down again.

A fair assessment of how most football clubs fans will feel. As you rightly mention about 2013, no one saw it coming and there was certainly no fanfare or brass band for the arrival of Phil Parkinson. No real plan then either other than to ask Parkinson to try and somehow get us out of the shit. What Parky did better than any other manager we've had in recent history is build a football team based on his own methods and principles, recruit players and a coaching /fitness set up to fit the pieces he needed. That's league 2 football folks, don't need schemes of grandeur, just a manager that understands the limitations of budgets and player ability and what is needed to get out of this division. Don't forget luck in all this, you need a massive slice of it, but couple that with a squad has a competitive spine then you won't be far off.
Surprisingly to say how simple it should be, for various reasons we've only been near that point once in the last six seasons. And thats down to nothing more than who keeps recruiting the managers.

Definitely there is still a point.

    Football changes very quickly.
Just look at the Grimsby,Harrogate and Walsall home games.(only 5/6 weeks ago)

3 of the most uninspiring games you’ll ever see.
Fans not being bothered to celebrate last minute equalisers.
Many describing the whole match day as “a chore”
Others saying they won’t go until Hughes is sacked.

Hughes gets sacked after the Tranmere game and just 4 days later the whole atmosphere changes.
The Swindon,Grimsby,Wimbledon and Wrexham (21,500) games were like we’d got our club back after Hughes had sucked all the life out of us.
Probably just the new manager bounce but most fans got their mojo back in what was a relatively short space of time.
Admittedly it’s gone a bit tits up in the last few matches but that’s probably due to a little bit of uncertainty around McDonald and the new manager.
Hopefully a new manager (whoever it is ) will give the fans something to get off their seats and we can quickly forget the unadventurous shite we’ve had to endure for the last 18 months.

At 70years of age you have seen far worse times than these. The difference is since the brief period of success expectations are much higher. Last season with a bit more positivity in our play we could have moved up a division still lower than we should be but a start.

And who on here can honestly say they didn't think it was a master stroke to recruit Adams? And then MH? In recent days Sparkes has closed a deal with Cowley, a manager of whom most on here seemed to approve, only to have backword because of non-footballing matters. Maybe, as so many seem to think, a DOF is the answer, but who is going to appoint him (or her)? Sparkes is it seems doing pretty well with the commercial side (hopefully he realises that appointing Barton would see much of that progress decline), but is also responsible for major football related decisions because we have a distant owner. Would you have him walk away from that? And then what?

Theres no such thing as a masterstroke. Hence why I'm not too bothered who we get as manager

    I'm the same

Someone said the Rahic bit was worse, but it kinda isn't. There was a point in booting that infuriating failure to the curb, but right now we're not as woeful, but we're just soulless. Kinda feels like there just isn't a point.

New manager 'excitement' to come with renewed positivity - but do I even care?

There was quite a few on here who didn't want Adams as manager myself included his persona was never a fit for us and never likely to be just ask fans of his previous clubs (excluding Morecambe) how bad an appointment they eventually thought he was
As for Hughes with all his experience was a gamble and yes one I would have taken but he should have gone at the end of last season all sounds good with hindsight but our problems are much deeper than the manager We need an interested owner a CEO that knows the game and a DOF who will guide a new up and coming manager all currently lacking how you bring about those changes goodness only knows !!!
Not a lot to ask for in a professional football club but that's the root of the problem
As for appointing Barton I agree he wouldn't be my choice
