That was a cracking match , Stockport we’re unbeaten and top of the league , not many draws live long in the memory but that one does.

    Anybody
I remember the Barnsley keeper nutting Joe Cooke trying to block him off his kick at Bfd End. Got sent off I think. Also being 0-3 at half time and winning 4-3 v (Brentford?)

I remember being in the Bradford end and being 3-0 down, in the Hendrie and McCall era. It wasn't a worry then, you knew we would get it back! Thought it was Bolton but probably wrong.

It was that Banny overhead kick that caused me to practise it on my bed for ages, and ages, and ages. This progressed to the field until I perfected it to a tee. I scored quite a few over my playing days including one against Sunderland for our own bantams youth team when I was a youngster, and one in a local cup final at Thackley I remember. All because of our Banny. Even to pulling my sleeves down over my hands. Our own Denis Law. I guess he was my role model as a young kid.

My memory was well before this - back in 60/70’s I guess. I seem to remember Banny saying afterwards outside the players entrance it was one of the best games (at that time) he’d played in.

Like many on here, the ‘kids for a quid’ initiative got me returning to City. I stopped after the fire, plus we were living away from Bradford. I had lost touch with old friends and so there was little to encourage the link. My first child was born in August 1985 and my wife and I were very lucky that we had gone to see her family in the Scottish Highlands, that dreadful weekend. We use to sit in D Block of the Main Stand!
By 1993 my daughter had started to watch Sire A on TV. She loved football and the World Cup of 1994 had her hooked to the tournament. It was at the start of the 1994 season that I bumped into someone I knew from Saltaire. In Rochdale of all places. She told me about the ‘Kids for a Quid’ promotion. So I took my daughter to her first match. I expected her to last about 30 minutes…..but no she was engaged. Within four seasons her sister started to come, plus a friend of mine (a Manchester United supporter) and his two lads. Here we are over 30 years on both the lads and my youngest daughter are Season Ticket holders (despite those who think they should attend all matches, they do live in London). The oldest now lives in San Francisco, but gets up at 7.30 am every match day to watch live on TV! At a school reunion, two of my school year said they were interested in coming and one now has a Season Ticket (despite living 160 miles away), additionally I bumped into a couple of old friends (plus their sons), finally and surprisingly some Bradford guys who use to work with my wife, and along with a number of other new friends through going to City, then there are now around two dozen who know each other!

So for me the incentive to get children and young people involved is a ‘no brainer’. I understand that a significant number don’t get to all the match’s (another gripe for some), but the long term aim of instilling a family dynasty of City supporters, begins with making football affordable.

    Long may it continue!

If the kids who came for the last four big crowd games for the first time aren’t hooked, they never will be.

I remember meeting and getting Stanley Matthews' autograph whilst standing on the players/ management entrance.

My headmaster said he he knew Sir Stanley, we didn't believe him of course, but he did.

It was when he managed Port Vale.

They were unbeaten after about four or five games, we beat them 2-0.
