    I think it was probably time for Hughes to go, but I'm completely uninspired that Macdonald has taken temporary charge. The writing has been on the wall long enough for us to have put a plan in place.

    Totally agree. This is not something to celebrate. After Adams he was initially a breath of fresh air and I really wanted it to work out but this season has been a disaster so far and sadly things were clearly not going to improve.
    Next appointment is massive but I really have no confidence in the club at all to get it right

    If you sack him as well who is in the dugout if McDonald decides to play? Also just because the team haven't been doing well it doesn't mean he's not a good coach

    Not that surprising. Always want to give people time but there were zero signs or reasons for him to stay around. Tragic team to watch.

    A lot of fans, me included, never got over substituting Banks for Platt at Carlisle. One of the most bizarre and frankly stupid decisions seen in such an important match for City.

    Depressing summer of recruitment and I had never felt less looking forward to a new season as this.

    The season has been depressing to put it mildly so far, and I couldn't see Hughes turning it around.

    Unfortunately he bottled a very good chance to go up last season.

    Best he goes now to give us plenty of time for a new manager to make an impact this season.

    One thing puzzles me, how does Trueman always get to keep his job?

    No hard feelings though and wish Mark Hughes a happy retirement
