Hughes SACKED

Wonder why Mark Hughes isn't on that list

 

Even before the odds were out there was more than one poster on The Gills message-board saying please not Karl Robinson. I share their sentiment.

 

For heavens sake not Karl Robinson he makes Hughes look like PEP. One of the most overated guys in football and a mystery how he has made a living from it

 

Until he bags another brace eh....

 

Hughes has gone.
Young is our player.
Young is scoring goals.

As simple as that. No need for story time.

 

Nor Jake Young.

 

He can score goals! However, he is slow and overweight.

He is a main player for us that’s for sure but has shite around him and behind him. Simple as that really.

See, what I don’t want Sparks and Co to do is try to please fans like you with their next appointment. Get the man you feel will take this club forward no matter what fans think of them.

Too many times this club thinks of the fans rather than success.

Honestly, I couldn’t care if it was Robinson, Evans or @Park bantam. As long as you are not hiring a manager because the application is in the spam box or your bloody emails!

 

The trouble with that is if the club were to go for an unpopular manager the knives would be out from people like you at the first defeat.

Sparks hired Hughes because he was the most experienced and talented in the application process. Nobody had any issues at the time and I bet a quick search on here suggests you didnt.

Time and time again you say we need to rhink big and lack ambition. You would have crowed that was the case if we had turned him down.

 

There is no argument.
Any sentence that starts “he can score goals” and then has anything after it is completely irrelevant.

His job is to score goals.
He did that better than anybody else in the division last year and is starting to find his mojo as well this season.

 

i’d no problem with the Hughes appointment. What I have a problem with is it was always a massive gamble to take on a manager that doesn’t know div 2 or lower league football but I understand why we appointed him.

I don’t mind us thinking big but then the CEO and owner have to do that also in their support!

 

Cook is the best striker in the division. Won’t hear otherwise.

 

As good as you will get at L2 level. If he was slimmer and quicker he would be levels above.

That said i dont think he is a slouch. His goals at Mansfield and Gillingham last season proof of that.

 

His second at Newport, he gave the CB a two yards start.
