A quick Google says average L1 player is on just under £5k per week. So not exactly blowing clubs out the water money wise, but it's still more than enough to build a promotion squad.

Yes. A negative Lincoln fan probably posted something similar this time last year.

I'm sorry, buy you lost me when you cited the three relegated clubs plus Chesterfield and Huddersfield as some powerhouse footie clubs to be feared.

This division has a history of chewing up fancied former Premiership / or ambitious Championship clubs.

In fairness to you, I'd put more money on Chesterfield and Oxford than I would the others.

They earned a fortune from sales and then bought wise with most of that money. No superstars - just very good L1 players.

    That's the way to go.

Stop talking negative nonsense. The January window is always inferior to the main one, simply because no club, worth their salt, forks out twice the normal amount for players who've had a good first half of the season for the very first time.

For instance Salford's laughable spending has 'bought' them a play-off place - one of which they'd probably be getting if they hadn't had their backsides slapped with the Graydon transfer. So we should have done what they did perhaps? Paid a fortune and ended up 3rd instead of 4th. Wow what a difference that blown £1m would have made.

I'd argue we've got the best management team in the league. Now that's probably give us just 15 extra points, so clearly recruitment is vital.

But the teams at Millwall, Lincoln, Stevenage, Bromley, Cambridge, Grimsby and ourselves have shown the FL that money is hardly the most important thing. Good management is. Reece Staunton suddenly has a great FL coach and is revelling in it.

Yes. Our squad is still not as good as ten others I could name. Doesn't mean that we can't achieve this again next season, assuming we're in L1.

Yeah but the city demographics are only going one way and they aint out and out football supporters who will spend hundreds of £s to watch football. I honestly believe that the club will end up like BPA or fold in my lifetime as a result.

Perhaps if we went back to taking cash at the turnstiles we might become a more attractive proposition to some local "entrepreneur ".
