Seem to be getting plenty of time and space in their half.

 

Very lucky there!

 

We look bright in possession, some nice touches and good patterns of play from back to front. But we’ve created 1 chance. The front 2 aren’t good enough.

 

So far feels like a McCall side we’ve seen so many times. Bright and nice on the eye but no real cutting edge

 

Tbf, we have 2 lumps of wood up front. Get at least 1 proper striker in, we could be ok.

 

poor first half so far. much like last week, going back to front too quickly - we've got two ball playing CMs in the starting XI, so why not use them? centre-halfs are too quick to play up to the top two, hoping that something will stick with Clarke, Watt and Cooke feeding off second ball scraps. much to do in the second 45.

 

Our strikers are dreadful.

If DMH is the best we could get then we are in trouble.

Genuinely think we look all right. Colchester should have scored when Brown mugged Staunton and Wood, who have both been poor, but I can see us pinching this.

 

Novak should have buried his chance and we'd be going in at HT winning.
I think the defence looks solid and we playbsome decent passes but we are lumping it far too often to a couple of slow lumps upfront.
Watt, DMH, Novak and Guthrie need to do alot more second half.

 

Positives - we look organised and are playing some nice football in places. Defensively we’ve worked hard and apart from their chance Colchester haven’t had a look in. Impressed with Watt, Cooke and Clarke when we’ve had it on the floor. DMH has done well on the right, it’s clear McCall has told them to get it down there.

Negatives - the ball is in the air too much. Novak should have scored his chance, it was on a plate. We desperately need a striker with some pace and who can hit the target. We’ve got nothing on the bench which is going to change that.

 

Cooke and Watt have had little influence so far. They've been surrounded when they've had it so we need to find a better way of getting them involved.

Guthrie has done fairly well, Novak not so much. Desperate for a mobile striker.
