Unfortunately the top end of his torso might have been slightly in front of the Colchester defender but splitting hairs, I thought with regards entertainment the forward would be given the benefit, certainly not on that occasion.
What is annoying is that Clayton gets blown up for far too many offside calls he's been in the game long enough to watch his defender.

 

That's true but just kinda running it through my head if McCall has ever shown if he valued pacy strikers? Hiwula was the only one I can think of but the amount of times he ended up on the bench makes me wonder about his value.

Novak and Guthrie looks disturbingly like Conlon and Thorne.....without the goalscoring ability!

 

I think he’ll be pretty relaxed about it after today’s performance.

 

I think he is the right manager for us and of course he can see better than any of us fans - but Dennis he DOES have the scope and the budget to strengthen, I just hope his loyalty to the existing players and stubbornness to the comments he has made dont delay what is so obviously necessary

 

I have banged on all summer about how much would love to see Hiwula back. I think he would be a very good signing for this level, and although no particular rumours that we are interested, I hope he is one of the players McCall is hoping to persuade to drop to league 2.

 

And how would they know what was said ?

 

Is he? McCall hasn't proved he is the right manager for us at all. He has too this season.

My issue with McCall at the moment is this thinking he should swap and change the team each week.

The team lacks pace and decent forwards. The squad is going to struggle if we urgently don't get 3 players in with PACE!!

 

Guthrie was much better than Novak

 

In the sense that Guthrie was poor, and Novak was absolutely garbage, you’re right.

Its was the first game of the season against a tricky front 3 - so I think we need to give it a few weeks. French was unlucky not be selected but I thought DMH was not as poor as some have made out and who knows what orders he was given to carry out. Like a few on the pitch there was room for improvement. Disappointing as the result 2 points dropped was - it was it was a clean sheet and gives us something to build on. Work to be done - as in the previous seasons we are not clinical enough in front of goal and we need to make the set pieces more effective against teams like Colchester.

Dont even think its misplaced Dennis and I am far from down about today and what has happened in first few matches - defence has improved, clean sheets, youngsters introduced - its just that Stuart says 'we will get at least 2 additions in' and hopefully what he saw from our front guys today (and the lack of alternatives they provide) will speed up that process

 

We all understand the kid has pace but not once did he take his full back on, your right we are not privy to what goes on at training or before a game but surely when your manager is bigging you up with regards pace if that's your biggest asset you use it, I believe Stuart said French was the fastest in training the other week but that was only because DMH was out injured.
We heard Bowyer telling us what a class act Ismail would be, now he only had 13 minutes to show us in his cameo but he offered nothing, and IMO he didn't look interested.
