Amazed we managed to conjure up 3 goals with
    basically no strikers!

Very pleased with the win but disappointed we
didn't kick on in 2nd half and score another couple.

Whether we were easing off with injuries a factor
or just thought job done and we don't want to
humiliate Sarfend and get their manager sacked,
I don't know, but you need to have a ruthless side
to your play.Let opposition take over even at 3-0
down is not a good idea with a full 45 minutes to
go.If they get one back they could think there's a
chance and you shouldn't let them take that chance
especially the way we've been playing.

Look forward to Saturday and hope for a good win
    and performance.Hopefully we gave Tonbridge
something to think about and that's a good thing!

I didn’t get chance to see the Barrow game so will take your opinion on that one.

In the main my point was over the last 3 seasons, as someone brought in on probable high wages, he hasn’t commanded the defence in anyway, shape or form. He’s not a patch on McArdle or Davies and for the money, I expected more from the senior defender in our squad.

That’s why I’d play him as the defensive midfielder so that when players run at him and he backs off, we’ve a last line of defence in behind.

He offered nothing as a striker replacing Donaldson. Clayton was hardly a serious threat either but as a wing back DMH should be behind Hosannah and French and I’d probably play Sutton or Evans ahead of him too. I’d play Hosannah as an orthodox winger before Dylan. The squad is desperately thin on quality but DMH is one of the poorer players alongside Guthrie and on the evidence so far Samuels. The amazing thing is in the few games DMH played last season he offered no reason to sign him so it’s a mystery to me why he’s here. If the whole squad was fit he shouldn’t even make the bench. And if that’s the case under a salary you’d be better off with a junior player than paying a senior pro.

Whilst I think DMH has been very poor overall I think he did more in the few minutes he was on at Barrow than Samuels had done in the whole match which I think is why he got the nod last night
Samuels on what we have seen is going to be of no use

@wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler . I'm getting on my boring horse again. I'm not asking you to give anything away but did we enquire after Dylan Connolly?

My point was, that you can only get match fit, if you play matches. In that case, Samuels is not match fit, yet makes the bench (and doesn't get selected). If Samuels with his limited game time can get selected, then I see no reason why a player who hasn't played competitively for a while, can't also sit on the bench.

Samuels will have had a preseason and played U21/23 games including EFL Trophy whereas free agent wont, I would hope any free agent we brought in would not be sat on the bench the point I believe Stuart was making.
Let's hope Clayton is fit for Saturday if not surely Stuart won't go with DMH along side Clarke as our strike force.

    Why?

St Mirren, his team have played 12 games, are second bottom four points adrift. Out of 10 league games they have won two.

During that time Connolly has started just once and has had six from the bench.

If he can’t get a starting place in a team that is struggling, then apart from speed, what would he offer us?

We need a forward rather than a midfielder.

Don't honestly know. Think he's at St Mirren now.

Yes fair enough. I suppose what ultimately I'm trying to say is, that there's free agents out there who can probably get up to match fitness, and be much better than Samuels, Guthrie, Donaldson and Novak in a short space of time. Even coming off the bench for a final fifteen minute blow, would make a difference.

He wasn't a great player, but his usefulness is obvious.

I guess it depends how cheap DMH was compared to Connolly.

I think we saw with the likes of Paul Cadiss that it can be done, he made an instant improvement to our team it also helped that he had played most of his career at a higher level and could read the game better.
I'd say if we were looking for a Clayton Donaldson type centre forward that would be easier than a player who's game was all about pace if he'd not had a preseason etc, I get Stuarts argument if they're free agents it's for a reason but league one and two players can't afford to be without work I wouldn't have thought at some time or another you have to cut your cloth to suit.

Let's not make out Dylan Connolly the answer to our problems...He made no difference to a poor squad. He's now at another poor time.

We need to stop looking backwards and at players that have played for us in the past. We need to learn to move forward.

Look, McCall's recruitment has been mighty poor. Wrong decision after wrong decision but nothing we can do until the club really gets a future plan on how to move forward on and off the pitch.

If there's nothing we can do, I assume you advocate keeping Stuart on as manager for the foreseeable future?

I certainly do, as frustrating as it is, I'm not interested in seeing who Rupp and Rhodes would offer up as the next coach.

We're not good, but we're not going down and it's going to have to do.
