    I wonder if we could accommodate both Clark and Rowe in the starting 11? Having watched Rowe in his couple of appearances, he seems comfortable to come deep and pick the ball up and drive at defences. That might be why he likes to shoot from outside the box? His goal against Barrow came from picking the ball up on the right wing from a lovely pass from FCD and then driving into the box to score.
    Could he play in the deeper roll that Cooke currently occupies? Cook playing the tip on the attack. He certainly seems to have a physical presence, which is always good up against LG2 defences?
    With the number of games coming up, it might be an option if we need to rest Cooke or he gets injured.

    With Watt suspended (bizarrely) I would play Hornby - AOC Paudie Canavan Wood - Sutton Cooke - Crankshaw Clarke Vernam - Rowe

    Evans looked a bit off it to me at Exeter and I'd rather see Clarke in behind the striker.

    Morecambe are having a good season but haven't won in 3 and I reckon a comfortable 2-0 home win.

    Clarke won't be back in the squad for at least a week according to Mark's press conference today.

    Is Watt suspended ? I would go with FCD in the holding role if he is. Clarke is injured and we need Evans and more so Cooke. So Rowe as the front man with Vernam Cooke Evans behind him, but would have Evans on the right and Vernam on the left. AOC at RB.

    That doesn't seem right that Watt is suspended for picking up a yellow in a match that was abandoned 3 mins later?
    I would argue that if it wasn't for the conditions he wouldn't have had to make that tackle so it should be annulled like the score.
    Unless someone you do something actually dangerous it shouldn't count!

    I can't see how Watt is suspended.

    The rules are:
    5 yellows in the first 19 matches = 1 match suspension;
    10 yellows in the first 37 matches = 2 match suspension;
    15 yellows in the 46 regular season matches = 3 suspension; and
    20 yellows in the 46 regular season matches = determined by regulatory commission.

    Absolutely agree Asafa. But don't forget, we are talking about the EFL here - a body largely untroubled by reality or commonsense.

    I know you like these conundrums. Supposing Watt had been banned for 1 match, and that game was the subsequently postponed one at Scunthorpe. Would that match count? I honestly don’t know the answer.

    No, the suspension has to be served in a 'completed' match.

    As far as I'm aware Watt is 4 cards short of a two game ban between now and the second Sunday in April.(11th)
    Read it somewhere.

    If you have a look at https://www.thefa.com/football-rules-governance/discipline/player-essentials you will find a pdf document with the rules as stated above.

    As I understand it Watt has 5 yellow cards, so far, and, therefore, would have to pick up another 5 yellows in the next 12 completed matches to activate a 2 match suspension.
    EDIT: It seems Watt has 6 yellows (City's website not yet updated with the sixth), so 4 more in the next 12 completed matches to activate a 2 match suspension.

    I thought that would be the answer. It seems somewhat perverse, that a booking which occurred in a game, which was not completed, still counts. Wouldn’t it be ironic, if Watt was subsequently banned and the game was the rearranged Scunthorpe fixture! :eyes:

    According to T&A Watt now has 6 yellows, but obviously beyond the 19 matches but within 37 matches rules, so as what StaffordBantom says is about right, 3 - 4 cards off a 2 match ban if accrued before mid-April.

    Hopefully can put out a solid team tomorrow night, not get nervy at our back line and scare them repeatedly at theirs.

    So where is the logic in a yellow standing from a non completed match ? Only the EFL could possibly have such double standards

    Not surprised Evans looked off against Exeter since he didn’t play tbh, not easy to make an impression on the physio table. Don’t worry about Watt either not sure you get banned for a yellow card.
