If there was an added incentive such as direct entry into the FA Cup 3rd round for the winner (which could potentially be worth far more than the prize for the winner of this trophy) I think that would also muster up further interest from clubs and fans alike.

Let's make another £Million for Rupp to pocket while we continually hunt the market for any scraps.

 

There's only money in it if you progress very far in the competition. That money isnt worth the risk (to a promotion chasing team) of injury and loss of form through the extra group games.

Scrap it totally or bring in 16 teams from the NL to make it a straight knock out or alternatively give the top 16 (below those promoted the previous season) in League one a Bye into round two.

At present it exists only to give PL under 21 teams three extra games.

 

Why arent the club having cash turnstiles on the night?

people who are working and rushing to the ground for a 7pm ko just want to pay a tenner on the gate, not faff on ordering e-tickets

 

It's an abomination of a competition and at the thin end of a wedge when it comes to maintaining a league of 92 independent football clubs against the franchise expansion of a handful of over entitled big clubs who would not pause for a second to wipe a smaller club out of business if they thought there was half a chance of getting their B team in to L2.

Not a chance on earth that I'll be going tonight or to any other match in this competition in its present state.

wow. I was expecting a reserves run out. Wonder if Lincoln were expecting that.

 

Same for Lincoln. 7 of the starting 11 tonight, started for Lincoln at Oxford on Saturday, with 3 others on the bench.
