The best, and certainly the most melodious, advocation of the whole issue is contained in Buffy Sainte-Marie's My country tis of thy people you're dying. I'd upload the Spotify link if I knew how to do it.
PS I'd upload the lyrics too. Quite overwhelming.

    Possibly, maybe probably. Not definitively.

Perfectly accurate reflection of Turnbull, and precisely why Adams wanted rid

Was it at Mansfield where he dropped a simple catch and caught it on the goal line?

    No.

    Its projection this…

Who would be that spineless, that gutless to not sack a manager or head coach who slates them like that.

even in wider society can you imagine a VP or CFO publicly bashing the CEO/Chairman like that - TWICE!?

its just projection he is clearly on about the players, if he was that unhappy with the owner/CEO he’d walk.

Looking at what Turnbull brought in, it doesn't seem that unbelievable to me.

What happens usually is that Director of Football and/or Managers, go for players they have worked with before. Not necessarily a good move, it limits your choice and can often exacerbate a rift between existing players and the new signings.

Have you seen the quotes from Sparks over the previous year and the summer for the signings. Every day it was this is a collect effort we all scout together etc. That I imagine being Turnbull and whoever the manager was then.

if you’re right and it is the players I think Adams underestimated how bad the ones we had were either through recommendations from people already in the club or he didn’t have any takers and had to keep them on

I think Adams gave him the benefit of the doubt, realised he had ballsed up completely and made moves to get rid of him. It might be old school, but I prefer the guy who is picking the team to source the recruitment, then he can carry the can fully. Looking at what Turnbull signed, only Cook, Canavan, Ridehalgh and parts of Vernhams game are up to it. The rest are dross.

I agree with that, look how quickly Turnbull was shown the door. all he signed were Scunthorpe players, one of which has started once and the other has only scored the 1 goal. maybe that was to do with budget constraints but we dont seem to have any bold signings anymore, like that zanzala at barrow or Tshimanga at chesterfield.

I think Adams was very blunt with Sparks.

to add to this i was just listening to Adams post match interview; Jamie asks "is the current squad of players good enough for the promotion push you speak of? " "No, cos we will change in January"

I cant see why people are making a mountain out of that interview. He was very calm and very balanced. All teams need improvement, thats a fact and he's identified it. All clubs have problems at this level behind the scenes, again he's identified where they are and is working on it.

He's not saying the club is rotten and he alone can sort it. The problems could be minor ones like transport to and from training, to and from a match, meal regimes, sports science or any number of things.

As for the squad, some have eluded to a complete change in January. Again he hasn't said that. He's said we need more hardworking players and less flair players. This could be why he doesn't appear to rate Robinson, shifted Crankshaft on etc.

As for the tactics and formation, he's not advocating wholesale changes. Just tweaks.

    Give him time.

Problem is we were given the biggun by Sparks and that the club was moving forward in the right direction. And with Adams coming out with bites at the club here and there it tells us we are way off being a team that he thinks is capable to carry out his instructions. We don't need to hear any of this bollox about problems behind the scenes, it's about creating a squad with enough quality to take us up automatically. And that means a stop to recruiting players from clubs who finished the season below us or players that clearly other teams in our division don't want such as our strike force.
Most City fans have had enough of being bullshitted to and being sold a lemon. For Christ's sake it's about time this club showed some bloody ambition for a change, and no that isn't new bloody dugouts or an official crisp partner.

My point is he hasn't actually said there are problems behind the scenes, just that (like any club a new manager goes into) there are issues that he has been paid to identify and resolve.

He could be referring to anything, like nutrition or sports science not being up to it, like previous regimes for training, squad contact between matches & training, facilities for players. All of which are just issues he puts into his own way of working but are taking time.

No evidence to suggest he is saying the club has major problems and no evidence to suggest he is having a dig at being miss sold the job as some are saying.

But he can't tell us what they are? How about he just gets on with the job he's paid to do I stead of sending out cryptic messages.

If it’s that recruitment has been shoddy for years then moving forward he has no excuses as it’s his own now. I’d prefer him to be more clear in his post match press conferences if that’s the case and stop using these cloak and dagger phrases. It only adds fuel to the fire. If I was Sparks I’d be asking him to do that
