A week ago I felt that probably two thirds of our squad are simply not good enough for L2. Whilst it's clear that some aren't, the last few days demonstrate that several players who'd been written off by many of us are actually capable of doing a decent job for us. Both O'Connors, Pritchard, Sutton, Cooke and Watt have all performed significantly better than they did under Stuart. Much as I love the man, I have to conclude that his tinkering and overcomplicated tactics were unsuited to L2 players. Given a simple game plan and solid shape we have looked an entirely different team, with very little change in the starting personnel.

I wouldn't get carried away in thinking we could be playoff contenders, but if we bring in a couple of half decent strikers, a decent winger and solid cover at CB we ought to be comfortably in middle table by the season's end.

Asked if the difference was the formation and he said yes. The rest was mainly arse blowing about the goal.

mentioned training has improved, players are settled in a formation, formation suits, back 4 is protected, previously it was attack, attack, attack at us and we were too open, that previously the players were going into games knowing they were going to concede.

No he didn't mate I'm having a bit of trouble with my broadband and it posted twice I deleted one of the posts and it deleted both, I re-posted the comment, so it will look like park has replied before I posted.

 

It feels like a weight has been lifted from our shoulders, even my lad has come back downstairs to watch us again after refusing to watch what he described as dumbass football under McCall. The difference in two games with the same group of players is staggering.

 

Pritchard is telling what some of us already knew, the players hadn't a first clue what they were supposed to do on a Saturday under McCall. Couple that with poor training sessions and you end in the bottom two of the football league. Not rocket science this football lark.

 

and to think that they did it in just 6 days with 2 matches.. they'll have hardly any time to work on the training ground due to games played and recovery days. just goes to show what can happen with simple instructions and a game plan.

 

Agree. Mentioned formation and training as reasons why they look like a team now. Said training has "stepped up" and you train as you play in a match situation. So what exactly were they doing in training previously?

 

only they can answer that but maybe players need a coach rather than a mate on the training ground.

I share your renewed enthusiasm that we could actually turn this around, and with some decent additions to the squad, have a team/club that we can once again be proud to support.
