An interesting tactical thought. Barrow will come to smother, could work. And just a plea - let's not give up on Robinson before he's even started. Not the most prolific of goalscorers in terms of goals per games...but he has scored alot.

 

I think it's clear. Gillead gotta get goals - or he's benched. Contributes few assists for a player in his position, too. Clearly talented, but where's any end product? And that's what we need right now - end product.

 

Barrow have sold 460 tickets of their allocated 1000 at lunchtime today.

 

It'll be their cup final (lol), we could thrash 'em 5 - 0 and we still wouldn't know what's gonna happen next for us....

 

I've seen the phrase 'clearly talented' used before to describe players in the past such as Billy knott but surely clearly talented would have an end product as per the position a said player is apparently good at. For example a keeper who commands his box, a centre back that dominates strikers or forwards who have a high strike rate etc. For a player to have talent we need to see it on a regular basis and as you allude to an 'end product'.

 

On the subject of goals which we seem to be struggling with at the moment…..

Oh goody.... Looking forward to watching Barrow players fall over the grass and time wasting from the 2nd minute. Lovely.

 

Off to my first game tomorrow and taking the car. Anyone had any issues with windows being smashed this season and where were you parked if so?

 

I've started parking in the Broadway. It's a bit of a trek (15 minutes ish) but it's reasonably secure and at least your car will be in one piece when you get back.

 

Cheap too! Pretty sure its £3.50 all day.

I have only been to home matches so far this season and we are very inconsistent in my opinion.
Oldham- lucky to win
Stevenage- excellent performance
Lincoln - totally outclassed
Walsall- poor
Anything less than a win tomorrow and confidence of players will evaporate along with supporters belief

We weren't poor against Walsall. It was only our forwards who were below average.
We created enough chances to have won by 5 and didn't have much to do in defence.

 

The law of averages tell you if you keep playing like that you will eventually get reward. That said if they don't sort out the goal situation.....

 

It's blindingly obvious we won't and can't sort out the goal situation because of the lack of funds.
For me as good a player as Cooke is, i'm unsure about what he brings to the behind the striker role.
Surely if your number 9 isn't scoring then your number 10 should be chipping in.
For all his praise and rightly so, can you say he tests the keeper every match, because he should be.
Gilliead hasn't shown any signs of scoring which leaves Vernam who is very hit and miss.
So as we all can see the whole season rides on Andy Cook's shoulders.
Not ideal for a team supposedly looking to go up.
