    Yeah Dave some great times I still like my music and have a varied collection. Called into Sunbridgewells the other day that's where the "Hole in the Wall " reunion takes place. Not sure if you remember
    The Little Fat Black Pussy Cat Club ? Bands who appeared there Georgie Fame, Moody Blues, Long John Baldry ,The Pretty Things, Faces and our own Kiki Dee. Also Beatles rumoured to have popped in.

    Also where Jimi Hendrix apparently jammed after hours, following his gig at, of all places, the Craiglands Hotel, Ilkley. Go figure!

    I'd have loved to see that Stax/Volt UK tour, but I was only eleven at the time.
    TBH ( and I know you'll call this sacrilege) I've always thought Otis Redding a bit overrated. Too much of the tedious 'Gotta, gotta' stuff for me. Sam & Dave, Wilson Pickett, Aretha, Ann Peebles, Al Green, Betty Wright - now you're talking.

    I never went to the Astoria. But, as the Rainbow, I saw The Clash, GP & the Rumour and Clapton there at various times.

    I'm not saying that I don't like Otis. But I never understood why he often seems to be rated higher than many other soul artists.
