Lewis was dropped for the first time in a league game at the weekend in Carlisle‘a 1-0 win away at Salford.

 

But was back in the starting XI for the Bristol Street Motors game last night

 

Meaning he's definitely not starting the next league game barring an injury to the keeper who played on Saturday

 

Dropped for the foreseeable now. Who’d have him back to challenge walker?

Now back in training after recovering from his broken finger. Wonder if he’ll be back in the starting XI anytime soon.

 

Id have him back for cover , he went into a team with a massively poor defence who were practically already relegated, their defence this year is pony too - great back up option

 

I think we need a replacement, not a back up and Lewis is very similar to Walker. Some good strengths but too many gaping weaknesses.

They'd possibly make a decent keeper if we could mould them together though?

 

No chance of him coming back. His confidence is shot to pieces and he's not been the same keeper since the Carlisle 2nd leg. He might have had a poor defence in front of him but he was equally as poor with numerous big mistakes. This season he's at 51% save % with only 3 keepers behind him and 2 of them have played 1 game each, he's also the worst for xG prevented.
The only positive for him is that he's got another 18 months on his contract at Carlisle as he would struggle to find a club in the summer

 

There’s a rumour on the Carlisle forum that Harry put in a transfer request a few weeks ago. Might be nothing in it….

Only way he'll get that is by dropping to non-league or somewhere like the Scottish lower leagues, I don't see how any clubs at league 2 level of equivalent take a punt on him to be a number 1.

 

I think he's one of those players that needs to be loved and have an environment around him. Mentality might be his problem so far as when he was loved and we were on form, crowds were up, wins were rolling in, he looked like the best keeper in the league for a spell. As soon as those rumours of the bids came in when we were in Spain, it looked like a different person was on the pitch.

Last season just had a weird feeling all season long, i remember before KO on the first home game of last season saying it feels like Hughes isn't long for City. Then he goes to Carlisle which just seems a complete shit show behind the scenes, crowds that aren't interested and turn on the team quickly. I genuinely believe if he went somewhere and had an arm around him at a club that's ran "the right way" he could be a top keeper at this level again. Mark Marshall comes to mind as someone like that, he looked like a very average winger as a squad member under PP, then McCall made him his main man and he had a career season, but then didn't really repeat it after. Some pros its about the environment. He's only 27 too, still a long time in the game if he can find his feet again.

 

He has found out the grass isn't always greener. Had his head turned (probably by money) and when the chips are down seems to show character weaknesses and lost his confidence and form.

I would have him back one day but it would be unfair on walker right now and could upset the applecart.

 

Wiki still shows him as Carlisle Utd player but he doesn't appear to have a squad number for the forthcoming season.

 

Sounds like he's going to be their starter next season and has moved to number 25. The local lad Breeze they had in goal seems to be on his way, hasn't been part of the last few friendly squads either. Lewis has been getting the minutes although he did concede 3 to Curzon Ashton last night....

 

I doubt he saw himself playing NL football after leaving us.
