Harrogate Match Re-scheduled Twice [now Monday 12 Oct '20]

They've now put this out on twitter... But if you ain't on twitter you aren't going to see it and you are going to think you've done what is needed by responding to the clubs email correspondence.

 

I have no interest whatsoever in Harrogate. What I find hard to stomach is a club with over 100 years of football league history is now on an even footing with a club playing its first season. Harrogate have done what a few clubs have done over the last decade or so have done in stepping up from a history in non league to the professional ranks. But we as a club should not be below the likes of Fleetwood, Burton, or on an even footing with the likes of Salford or Harrogate. Christ this club needs an intravenous drip full of ambition.

 

For most , 70 I am sure I read elsewhere, of those 100 years we have been in the lower 2 divisions. So we hardly deserve to be above anyone really.

Lets hope the new CEO has some ambitions and at least drag us to the championship. I cannot see us ever getting anywhere near the Premiership[p again.

 

Can't agree we won't ever get near the Premiership, because who really knows.

No chance some of those clubs who are IN the Premiere ever expected to get there either, but things happen and times change.

 

Indeed it is, but if we also tot up the matches played in the various tiers we can have the consolation of bragging that we are, at least, a 3rd tier side, not 4th... (468/1224/1854 (3+3N)/1096)

(It's a dull rainy morning over here, perfect for pondering City's league performances over one's lifetime.)

FWIW, the Premiership has made me lose all interest in it, but I do think we should aim to be again an established 2nd-tier side.

I would be genuinely satisfied with that, though clearly we'd all get a bit fed up during those relegation seasons.

That's basically where Barnsley are right now, and they're very inefficiently run in my opinion.

 

I fear a defeat in this game. They'll be up for this game and add to that, the decent start they've had we could lose by 2.

I hope I'm wrong, but we need everyone firing and that would mean leaving Guthrie on the bench.

Unless we get a financial fairy godmother then the best City can be is unfortunately just a club like Barnsley or Rotherham. A decent league 1 team and occasional season in the championship but always a relegation struggle. The championship has moved on since we were last there in 2004 with massive wages which we couldn’t compete with. When we were promoted from the championship we were up against teams like Tranmere, Stockport , Swindon and Bury who could afford to play at that level then. If only we could get a rich ambitious owner and dynamic CEO but it’s just a dream.

 

Good post, but I think you'll be accused of lacking ambition, those kind of owners come once in a lifetime at best to clubs like Bradford City, we had our fairy godfather but it didnt end too well, I certainly wouldnt want to go through that again.

 

Coming from non league I think they’ve started pretty well and are playing good football. They have the momentum too. Hope I’m proved wrong, obviously.
