We aren’t alone

 

We were all over the place defensively they weren't good enough to take advantage where other teams would have.

 

Here's my take on it - relatively new poster but humour me (cue the piss take)
we have enough talent in the forward midfield and attacking positions to have enough to get out of this shitpot of a league.
the issue for me is we have a very average centre back 2/3 and we have a snail in front of them in Smallwood, who often gets caught out and cannot run. At this level in any position you need an adequate amount of pace and Richie just gets caught which leaves a relatively crap central defence exposed.... just a thought

 

I think him and Baldwin look worse.

 

Agree smallwood is gone once a player goes past him, then there's the centre defence issues after that

 

Only saw bits of the game tonight. Baldwin and Byrne are an absolute car crash pair of defenders and we won't get anywhere with both of them in our back line.

If you're going to play like we do and leave the defence fairly exposed then you need a quality back line and we are nowhere near it. You also need a DM with legs, which Smallwood doesn't have.

Few weeks left of the window and based on the opening few games the squad is still 3 first team players short.

 

Not sure he did enough to warrant been considered a must start. On the other hand, Kavanagh looked to have an off game so could see him been replaced and I think Young needs to be given a start. So by default, you get to the same place. However for me it’s more from us needing to see Young can deliver on his Swindon loan form………..if he is actually staying with us!

 

Well... GA is wrong.... The guy is deluded... Shocking appointment like the recruitment for the last few years

 

This game felt very similar to a number of games last season. We are generally in control of the game, don’t capitalize and then concede a soft goal in the first half and then chase the game for the remainder.

Once again, as with last season, we seem to be lacking the clinical edge up front. I’m hoping that once we get a few more games under our belts that will change as we have the quality in there squad to create/score goals.

 

This results all on GA, he picked a poor team to start, he’s made deadwood captain, god knows why deadwood took the penalty…. GA appears to be blind at how poor deadwood actually is.

the issue now is how does GA get the players to respond because we all know what happened after we lost to wycombe in similar fashion

Plus points from yesterday.. Cooky looks sharp and Sarcevic looks like a good prospect, i really was hoping he would replace deadwood

Defensively we looked poor. Byrne and Baldwin were both shite. Who would have thunk it?

 

Stubbs now the odd man out. GA/Sharp have signed a crock, a Stockport reserve and a laughing stock released by Notts County. The only way to improve the back line now is sell/get rid of Stubbs because he is stuck with the other 3.

All I will say is lets hope Shepherd is half decent and anyone incoming a vast improvement on the current crop.
