Sad news. I remember him well. Pretty sure he was our manager when we turned Liverpool over as a 4th division team in the League Cup. One of my great childhood football memories. RIP George.

Lost 1 nil, was at the game as a youth. We had a great following unbelievable how we didn't score.

    RIP George.

Wow that was one hell of a Liverpool side! I remember Dalglish missed the first leg only to return for the second leg at Anfield but that's an impressive Liverpool line up nonetheless

Yes Dalglish being available for the second leg made a massive difference on the night, I believe just after Liverpool had scored their first at Anfield Daisy McNiven missed a very good chance to equalise, and we know the rest.
A great occasion even though in the end we were well beaten but that night our 6,000 following out sung the mighty Liverpool Kop although the result was bad it was a great experience for us Bradford City fans.

Was at that game I'm sure it was a Steve baines own goal. I think we were the only city supporters in the p/boro end.

Yes I remember that game Park. Can't recall a more miserable feeling that that one coming back on a supporters coach.

He was a decent man as well as a good manager and I have fond memories of us giving Town a good spanking 2 nil with Mega and or Martinez on the wings when he was in charge.

    Rest in peace George

Thanks for the memories George. The Liverpool side we beat were around that timing conquering Europe. Fantastic memory. I missed the Peterborough promotion game due to work. I was abroad and had to wait for hours after the game to hear the results on BBC World Service.

We were 3rd going into that game and even losing could have been good enough. We lost, Trevor Quow got the only goal. Pompey still had to win at Northampton to go above us and Newport had to win at Walsall who had already been promoted and were unbeaten at home all season. Pompey won 0-2 and Newport won 2-4. We finished 5th and missed out on goal difference. Devastating. I learned from that day that numerous results can go your way and also go against you. It’s never won till it’s won.
