From the Athletic: Rupp Looking to Sell?

I don't think this is great timing, when everything is going well we could do really without this risking instability. Hopefully he is happy to keep going as we are until he can find a buyer rather than doing what other owners have done and pull the plug on funding the losses. If he did that it would be a disaster and undo lots of the good work over the 2 years as it will inevitably mean wage budget cuts. We'll never find out who have sent the deck into the journalist but it would be interesting to find out who it was.

 

Much as i aint keen on him i would rather the club be run right over an owner who could run up millions of pounds of debt and land us back in the brown stuff.

So if you want the club and stadium, you are looking at £20million , give or take
In today’s football terms it is not a lot to acquire both , but then you have to keep the club moving forward and possibly build our own training ground and expand or build a new stadium
I have always thought we could be a good club to purchase if your heart is really in to it, but dread owners that just see £signs, like so many
It does seem odd , but commendable if Mr Rupp is willing to sell at virtually what he paid around £5 million and the rest to pay back his directors loans

 

Whats new in there ? Nothing , he’s made it abundantly clear he will sell for the right amount to someone who will give it proper stewardship for what 4-5 years?

 

He has, but the difference now with the presentation pack seems to be that he is actively seeking out a buyer rather than just being prepared to listen to offers.

 

To me they say the same thing . Let’s be honest here 95% of us knew the content and could have written the article . Was that “ pack” in circulation already . I bet it was over in megalomaniac land ?

 

Its funny to think that Rupp's tenure really hasn't moved us forward at all, and our performance under his stewardship has been a gigantic 'U' - leaving us right back where we started.

Naturally the same, or worse, could happen under a new owner, but I'm happy to take the risk. Rupp isn't the man to move us forward, he never was, and he never will be.

Now I see why the club focused so, so heavily on the marketing side of things: that brochure will look mint and say all the right things, no doubt, without the obvious fact we've gone absolutely nowhere this past 10+ years and we own nothing more than we did before.

Still, 10 million is the kind of price to hopefully ensure a very committed buyer.

 

No idea, I guess it might have been. The article also mentions Wigan's presentation which is dated 05.01.26 so clearly very current, whereas no date is provided for ours.

 

If it’s true he sent out presentations to prospective buyers then it’s different it Means he is looking for a buyer rather than waiting to see who turns up

 

We never really had one in our history he is a lot better than most

 

Do you really believe that Silver ?, Gibb or whoever, are in the driving seat with regards the stadium, unless its a silly offer from new investors what incentive is there to sell, as we have little or no other options.
Talking with a lad who's been supporting City many years he was convince we should call Gibbs bluff, but when I asked where we'd go he started quoting the council should flatten Richard Dunn's (which we know is a graded building) and make a 35.000 community stadium to share with the Bulls and Park Avenue, when he suggested that I didn't peruse the debate.

 

If he'd done what needed doing much sooner, I'd agree.

The second he binned off Rahic he should have brought in a quality CEO, but wanted to get things done on the cheap. That insistence on "cheap" left us floundering in the doldrums with no clue how to improve on the pitch at all.

When we eventually - and I do mean EVENTUALLY - rectified our most glaring weakness, that being a total lack of footballing expertise in the building, we found ourselves back where we were under Rhodes and Lawn.

Frankly, a waste of time. The advantage he has over Rhodes and Lawn is deeper pockets. A million here or there didn't feel a big deal for Rupp, but L&R would talk about it week in, week out and make it the focus of the entire club.

Seeing how Rupp went nuts before, I'd expect the journo to either be correct or expect a lawsuit lol

If he didn't want to sell the club he would not take kindly to that article per his past actions.

 

If he has the document he says came to his Email it would be difficult for Rupp to deny it, although with AI this day and age its not easy to distinguish what's true or not.
