Surely the club wiuld be within their rights to have suspended him anyway for being out in the early hours of the morning on a match day (breach of club discipline), avoiding any need to be drawn into discussion regarding the allegations

I've not read anywhere that he was actually out. The alleged offence could have occurred at home

Fair comment. I may have interpretted it wrongly.

I get all that Kevin, but unfortunately once a person is suspended the whispers and the finger pointing starts.

Which every way this goes Tyrrell is tarnished. That's not to say his career is finished but shit sticks.

Can you explain how not suspending him would have prevented the whispers and finger pointing? Because regardless of whether he was suspended or not, information about his arrest would have still been reported in the public domain. For argument's sake, lets imagine that he wasn't suspended and that he was picked for the match day squad today. Do you honestly believe that the rumours that have been circulating on social media wouldn't transfer to the stands? How do you think that would affect the lad to hear that? How do you think that would affect the team? How do you think it would affect the club?

A great deal has been said, by the players, about what a tight knit group they are and how they like and enjoy MC's coaching but respect and ultimately, self discipline, should be a part of the players attitude if all that is true.

All I'm asking is the question "is everything ok in the squad"?

I' not referring to coaches following players around, that's a ludicrous suggestion.I'm alluding to the connection between player respect for the coaches and subsequent "self discipline" that players should have as professionals.

Do.you think that the club have suspended him because it's in the players best interests or theirs?

If @Kevin1954@Kevin1954 has quoted Employment Law, and I suspect his comments are based on this, then the Club has acted well within its rights. It seems to be a standard procedure. It is not the club which is producing ‘whispers’ or is ‘tarnishing’ the players career, rather people starting to create ‘faction’ which is one of the reasons the threads were closed down.

Let the due process of Law takes its course and the proper authorities investigate the matter.

As I said earlier, a player who is suspended will have the right to seek support from their union and I presume he is a member of the PFA. He undoubtedly will have an agent, and if he does, then they can also seek legal advice for him in respect of employment law issues. In essence he has dual protection.

All this makes me wonder how on earth did gavin grant “slip through the net” and remain playing for us whilst he was on bail for murder ? Surely someone knew he was on bail, which he must have been given how quick his trial took place after he left.

In what way? Stop looking for things that aren't there. It makes you sound paranoid.

I actually agree with the club's stance, but from Tyrells point of I hope they are providing support and guidance behind the scenes.

One player gets arrested and you are suggesting there is a problem with 'self discipline' within the club? Talk about reaching.

    Good point.

I assume it's maybe to do with the alleged offence, although murder would rate quite high!

Ok, I apologise but it felt very much like you were trying to find a way to blame the club, or to at least put a negative slant on the action they have taken.

I’m sorry but you are just plain wrong. I was trained in the disciplinary side of employment law as part of my job (pre retirement)
I was responsible for conducting “investigations” and also hearing cases which had been investigated by other senior managers. As part of the process, knowledge of employment law policies and procedures was paramount, as was the businesses own policies (which were written by specialist employment law lawyers ) and employee rights.

You need to be aware that all this takes places with the knowledge that every single case where an employee could go to an Employment Tribunal as is of his or her right on every occasion. One wrong move could cost businesses pots and pots of money where innocent employees are treat unfairly by unscrupulous or even on the whole good employers, because that employer HAS not followed their OWN policy and procedure

All our employees could be , if they chose to, represented by the strongest , most militant union in GB both during and post allegation. You need to be on the ball , because trust me, they could tie the inexperienced in knots.

It may be boring and may not help the reasoned debate. It’s certainly not about free speech in the slightest, rather they are in place to protect all concerned.

I won’t add anymore to this debate as information is widespread on the Internet where anyone can check.
