    Is there an injury in the ranks or is the 3rd choice keeper leaving? Surprised we have used a loan up when we already have 3 keepers.

    Maybe Doyle is going to be more coach than player-coach then? Can't imagine Wolves would let us have this lad if he's not even going to be on the bench?

    City goalkeeping coach Colin Doyle said: “We needed another goalkeeper in and it is good to be welcoming Joe.

    “Him coming in gives us another body to do a variety of different training with, which is good for the whole group.

    That's where I got to. Doyle doesn't want to be on the bench or play as much. This chap will be the JPT starter and on the bench.

    I see he's tall.

    Will just mean that Doyle is purely a coach. Gives good comp for Lewis.

    That just about confirms it then. Doyle clearly coaching duties only, if he was still in contention to play it would have described him as goalkeeper/coach.

    He was at Hednesford last season. Bit of a step up from there. Not sure I'd want to see him play ahead of Doyle in a competitive match tbh!

    Whatever we might think, in my view, that's a matter for the guy in charge. Hughes knows what he wants to do with his squad and it must be his call on how and where to spend his budget. Hopefully he'll explain his rationale on this signing at some point in the near future.

    Maybe Doyle doesn’t consider/isn’t fit enough to maintain the training schedule to be match ready, whilst also leading the GK coaching for Lewis.

    If you consider the various potential outcomes it isn’t as bizarre as it might seem.

    I actually agree - Doyle came as #2 keeper. Perhaps he’s not as able and agile in his old age ;)

    It has to work for Hughes and for us this season. I know Sparks said we’d always spend within our means but unless we’ve had a cash injection from Rupp, I’m struggling to see how we can afford a squad so big with what you’d imagine 6 or 7 top earners in Smallwood, Osadebe, Walker, Oliver, Cook and maybe Chapman, Odusina and Lewis. Add to that Songo’O who probably came on a decent wage.

    The players sent out on loan, I wouldn’t imagine wil be on big money and we still have the thick end of nearly 30 in the squad. How many of those outside the match day squad are going to attract interested in the last weeks of the window? Very few I’d imagine…

    Does anyone know what number he is wearing? Annoyingly City don't seem to be including this info in their press releases this season.

    On signing him it seems odd. If a PL club lets a young keeper with promise to go out on loan it's with the expectation they will get regular starts. For example United let Nathan Bishop go to Mansfield last season where he played most games and did well. Sitting on the bench (or worse 3rd choice) doesn't really benefit them which probably tells you they don't consider him to have much potential. Looking at his stats as well he wasn't even getting regular starts in Wolves u18 unless for some reason the stats on PL u18 are lacking for. Certainly not sure I would want to rely on him in the event of an injury
