Match Thread FA Cup 1st Round - Away v Tonbridge Angels

The lads were a bit leggy and it showed especially in the second half. Fair play to them they were the better team and looked more composed when on the ball. Once the 3rd went in we were literally chasing the game and leaving holes at the back. Thought we competed very well in midfield but the 4th and 5th goals were lucky for them, some sort of heavenly intervention you could say.

I took Samuels off at half time as he was starting to look dangerous so I knew they would change it around at half time, so I took him off to confuse them.

Anyway we must put this behind us and be mentally tough for the next game defeat.

 

Eh listen, they’ve been together a long time, had to match them up and try and get a 0-0. Lads been triffic in training.

 

I didn't know that, so had a google and as you say Malcolm McDonald started there, was he always a forward as his goal scoring exploits were the worst of his career whilst with the angels.

 

Surely the game will be on the box? Just the name Angels will be attractive to the tv companies, and at home to a former premiership mahoosive club like us too..

When he played with Fulham he was a full back.

 

I thought he'd played another position before becoming a very good center forward as they were called back in the day, I believe he got a hat-trick against us many years ago at Luton when we got spanked 6 - 0 ?.

Full back Dave, Bobby Robson signed him for Fulham and converted him to striker.
I may well have seen him play for Tonbridge in the old Southern League, though TBH it'd be 50 years ago lol

My Dad supported Tonbridge growing up before moving up to Bradford in the 70s. He's a City fan now but has been waiting forever for this match... How so feckn frustrating that it happens the year no fans can go am absolutely gutted
