Know what you mean - I just think if we get through it keeps the 'feelgood' but also gives those returning from injury a 'competetive' game and the younger lads potentially matches with a bit of profile if we can reach the latter stages

 

We are also ball 7 in the draw for tomorrow night. Is that another good omen?

 

Not for me mate. While it's a group format we have to play the games but I am not fussed if we lose them or go out of the competition.

I would rather the squad have more days to get ready for their next league game and keep players fresh.

 

Gerry Ingram got 4 goals in the Darlington game, Gilliver got 2. Now that was a great strike partnership.

Not seen much of @SimonW today. After watching Bradford win 7-0 and Utd win 3-1 yesterday I think he got a little excited. Maybe, he didn't need Porn Hub after all.

Quite liked the striker lad Akrofi for Tonbridge. Pacey and good movement from him. Wold like to see him on trial just to see what he could do, some good lads in non-league, just need a chance.

 

Can we do that with him being registered with Tonbridge ?.

 

Don't know mate, just liked the way the lad played and put himself about. In my opinion, he has something.

 

There must be a few potentiel gems in non league that remain untapped, however, I didnt see anyone in the Tonbridge side myself

 

Interesting comment Greco. Having watched him at close quarters on Saturday, he has pace but is only something like 5'6" tall. Spoke to one of the Committee about him, mid 20s, moves around and never sticks anywhere very long in fact been with Tonbridge before with good scoring record of one every two games apparently. Then he moves if he can get a bob or two more elsewhere.
Been at Tonbridge, Brentwood, Chelmsford (who they play next), Concorde, Maidstone and I think one or two others. That's a lot for a 25 year old and never generated interest higher up. On Saturday I thought he faded out as the game went on after a bright start.

 

Spot on Simon, we need to qualify for the next stage of this and aim for some prize money whilst keeping/generating a feel good by winning games.

 

Absolutely, this EFL trophy doesn’t really impact on the 1st team and with having no reserve team it gives the younger lads and the fringe players a competitive game. It also brings in prize money as you stated so no real reason not to try get as far as we can in it.

 

They could let fans in for this, 20 or so self distancing should do it...

 

No chance Tony. At the end of last week EFL tightened their protocols even further. Still a max of 10 Directors each club but now NO guests, No sponsors, no food and drink in the Boardroom and no admittance until 15 minutes before KO then no mixing and straight into seat. Joy.

 

Was just a suggestion in the light of what's happening elsewhere in the lower leagues...
