It was a good performance by us what I wanted to see is improvement from the Southend match and the way we could improve from that game is to make sure in the second half we don't take the foot off the pedal which we didn't do.

The game yesterday and against Southend are hard to judge because the teams were poor but you can only try to beat what is in front of you and we did that. Well done to McCall and the players.

Oldham next but I am not fussed about that game at all. Exeter will be our really test on Saturday. That game we will be able to judge if the Bradford City are on a little up curve.

Listening to Stuart's post match interview it sounded like he will be giving some of the kids a run, stating Oldham have already won through to the next round, so how would they be treating the game, I'd expect a few of the kids in.

 

I expected him to shine against tired part timers when he came on, but he didn't. I know it's hard to make an impact as a sub, but Samuels managed to do so. If you can't stand out in a game like yesterday then there's really no hope as a professional footballer. I did however like the attempted back flick, that went straight through his legs and onto Connor Wood for the last goal.

 

So,if in November we've scored 3 goals on the 3rd and 7 goals on the 7th, how many will we score against Exeter ?

Good assessment Fordy, only thing I disagree on is the Oldham game - I am fussed, I know it will quite rightly be a different team out but this is all about doing things properly, momentum, attitude etc and I for one was pleased to hear Stuart say he is now looking to progress in this comp also.
I agree that Exeter will be a far better judge of where our first team are at though

 

I just see the Oldham game to give a few reverse players a run out that are in and around 1st team selection and a chance to rest a few.

I just think the competition is pointless but that's me mate. I don't care for the result in them games.

 

Exeter will be a tough game, unbeaten in the league for at least 5 games and only 1 defeat all season, another season aiming for the playoffs/promotion for them.

Last time we won 7-0 was against Darlington in 1972 and the following Saturday was a tough looking home game against Exeter. We won 4-0,is this a good omen for next Saturday?

 

Remember those games, if I remember rightly Gilly and Ingram were in a rich vein of goalscoring form

 

Wouldn't care if we won 1-0 on Saturday.
