I've wondered about that same thing myself. Other than Sheffield, there do appear to be more deals in the pipeline in the EFL at the moment than usual. I don't whether this is is just a blip or not or whether it's a systemic reaction to the appointment of the new IFR. I suspect the former or alternatively maybe it's some owners finally realising that many football clubs are simply money pits!

 

That's certainly how it was before the IFR was introduced. It beggars belief that the Championship club owners institutionalised loss making in the Championship without sanctions. The idea of joining the land of plenty, sometimes known as the EPL, was too alluring for some! I'm confident that will change under the IFR and a tighter financial regime in the EFL will follow but it will take time. The EPL clubs are already sending out messages for the IFR to keep his hands of the distribution of money within football and that the parachute payment regime is for them to determine and not the IFR. They are obviously opening salvoes but I don't expect the IFR to have an easy ride at all.
