Is he been a petulant child because he didnt make the 18 today? I wont lose any sleep if it is the last we have seen of him.

 

He did “like” a couple of the posts after today’s result though. Im neither from a protect or bash camp for the lad himself, actually it just highlights the storm social media can create. I understand why some players stay off it/get others to run it for them.

 

A strong man will use today's exclusion as motivation. Assuming the drivel online is true

 

Alexander named him as an example of someone who wasn't in the squad today but would still have a part to play so doesn't sound like anything has gone on before this. Whilst reacting like this isn't great it's not the worst thing in the world and if he gets his head down then no reason for everyone not to move on and forget about it.

 

Based on his performances to date, I can only see a league 2 loan being his next move. He needs to find the net regularly and he's obviously struggling at this level. He's has the physical attributes but isn't dominating defenders given his size. Maybe a season long loan or permanent move will give him chance to settle into his surroundings rather than 6 months here and 6 months there.

 

I wonder if he has been advised to step back from social media. He is still young and some of the abuse and tripe that gets posted might not be doing him much good.
It might be as simple as that.

 

I'm sure there were some on here that said there must be a clause in Wheatley's contract that says he has to play every game. Wonder what's happening with that?

 

I don't do social media aside from Facebook but there are some idiots out there. Maybe he's been getting a bit of stick about his performances so this is an effort to protect himself from that. Let's not create a narrative from scraps of information.

I'm sure the lad's going to be more disappointed than anyone about his contribution over the last couple months. His frustration is plain to see from his body language when he plays. A goal would do him the world of good, he seems so short on confidence.

I hope he buckles down in training and gives GA a headache but if Jackson, Humps and Swan stay fit his opportunities could be limited as I think one of them will start and the other 2 take a spot on the bench. Mullin (granted done f all at city but proven goalscorer) and Powell also give further attacking options so arguably we don't really need him as things stand.

 

Have some of our intelligentsia gone for him? It wouldn't be the first time, and he's best out of it.

His all round play was very good in his first few appearances, however confidence has visibly drained from him after each miss and it's now seemingly affected the rest of his game. I'm not sure we are the right club for a youngster who needs to rebuild his confidence at the best of times, but our league situation means we need more at the moment.

 

Don't follow players on social media so whatever he has or hasn't done is not really of my concern. Lets not beat around the bush here though, his loan spell here since he came has been poor. Could be a variety of factors, primarily for me he isn't a players that plays the lone striker role well, he doesn't know how to utilise his physical advantage and his finishing has been way below average for league one levels.

 

scoring is the hardest bit... when your hot your hot..... he will have a good career but not with us... We need an upgrade next season

You only have to read some of the comments on here (and BT is moderated) which are uncalled for, the odd times I view some of the stuff posted on other platforms its criminal some of the stuff being posted.
I'll stick with BT, most fellow poster know their stuff although we might not always agree, unfortunatly we do have a few who don't understand the game or are out for a bite when they post, you know who you are .

 

Well his 60 yard run last week to only turn around and pass it completely out of play was probably one of the funniest things I’ve seen a city player do in a long time so not surprised he’s deleted his media.

 

A fuss about nothing in my view. I have him on my instagram, just had a look, he still has his city shirt on loads of posts. He lacks maturity, but that is to be expected. There is only one way to impress GA and it comes as a package, train well, eat well, don’t whinge, be respectful to other players, if you don’t get picked find another way to support your fellow players.

GA doesn’t do sulking, he must know that. Let’s give the lad the benefit before everyone goes piling in.

 

Anyone know if Ethan traveled down with his team mates ?.

 

He needs to work out what kind of striker he wants to be as at the moment he's not excelling at working the channels or holding it up and bringing others into play

 

Training and doing in games are two very separate things

 

On about the social media side of things

 

One thing that Ethan and many others have shown that our summer of excellence in the market has been followed by an utterly underwhelming showing from all the January loanees.

Must do better next season. Particularly when carting out lads who would have done better and held the club in far higher esteem than these feckless wanderers.
