Get it right Northampton fans weren’t underwhelmed hw started slowly but according to them he got better and better. He needed a goal just as a certain Ollie McBurnie did a few years ago. He hasn’t produced for us but I think he will come good for some team

They are shit. So any player that 'tries' is good enough for them. I thi k we have higher expectations.

You still think Dion will be a PL footballer one day? Crawley now is it?

I can name you one who has gone on to have success- Rumarn Burrell . He played 2 games for us in 2021 on loan from Middlesbrough. He then went to Burton ( 11 goals in 30 games) then got a big move to QPR and has scored 10 goals in 26 games - now valued at a couple of million.

Perhaps some of the previous seasons, ‘observers’ at the Apperley Bridge Training Sessions, could pop down with some binoculars and see if there is any sign of Ethan Wheatley?
An alternative would be to phone in to West Yorkshire sport on the BBC, when they have supporters input after matches, and make inquiring references to the situation in respect of Ethan?
Basically no one knows at present and there hasn’t been an announcement in respect of his involvement in the match day squad or his status with the club.
He could just be ‘out of favour’, or a mild injury, or not showing enough in Training?

Yeh I think he only played 2 games for us. Not fancied by the 2 gaffers. He was a very raw 18 year okd though during his time with us. But fair play to him.

I reckon he's jut out of favour. He's had 519 mins over 12 games, we've had enough of a sample size to see if he fits or not with the team and i think GA is just going down a different route now. One thing i think is a plus that Wheatley brought (probably his only one), is that he at least had an effort on goal, or at least always turned and tried going forwards toward goal and was usually on the shoulder of the last defender. I do find Swan and Humps drift fairly wide or deep often when they are the central striker, but he wanted to stay up top. And as said, he had attempts on goal. He has 15 efforts in 519, so a shot every 34.6 mins which is the best of our lots output, but his XG is only 1.87 from those 15 shots.

Annoyingly, we have a striker who wants to face goal, wants to get efforts away....... but he couldn't hit a barn door with a banjo. I do wonder if he will be better in a two? But i think a lot of our strikers might be better in a partnership to be honest. We have Swan and Humps that are more mobile, like to drift and get involved in the build up, we have Mullin and Wheatley who seem to want to stay forward stay high, and we've not seen it yet from Mullins cameos but he was a bit of a shot merchant at Wrexham. Feels like if say we suddenly had Pointon and Sarce or Jackson go now and were out for the play offs, the drop off to White, Lapslie and Sibley is so vast, i'd be tempted to go from 2 AMs and 1 FWD to a 10 behind 2 FWDs.

Regarding your last sentence I've been thinking just the same. Perhaps Powell behind Humphrys and Mullin.

My thoughts are basically around playing the averages. GA has switched to that setup a few times before of 2 up top and 1 behind, and we have a group of 4 or 5 forwards who aren't a million miles off each other i'd say goal threat wise or what they offer to the team wise. But the 2 current slots for the wing/attacking midfielders, It's Pointon, Jackson and Sarce but the drop off to Sibley, Lapslie, White etc is huge, some game weeks we struggle to see any of those 3 get new the bench.

Obviously this is a massive hypothetical incase of injuries and suspensions to those 3 players, but it's probably the better alternative that sticking with the setup and bringing in lesser talent or crowbarring a Swan or Powell type out wide.

Not good enough at this level but good enough for Man U mmmmmmmm something not right here .............put it this way if hes scoring goals at a level above this one in the next 5 or so years then i will be amazed ...........hes had decent chances which any half decent striker would bury he didnt ...........i mean i get it if he was being denied by amazing saves but every effort was of a standard at the lower reaches of the non league level
