Are you suggesting Toney wasnt a very good PL striker when we last saw him? I seem to remember him scoring a decent amount for unfashionable Brentford?

And they were all shit? Toney has a different profile so maybe a plan B. Can also take a penalty!

Anyway, Toney may not even see a minute but im comfortable in the fact that if an injury occurs up top, we have a recognised CF as an option - even off the bench and I think that is Tuchels thinking. Im more for a 3rd CF than Toney specifically. Id be saying same if Welbeck or Solanke.

Squad has some notable ommisions, some odd choices but the starting 11 would be the same with or without them.

Pretty easy to guess his 11, left back might be the only question and whether its Jude or Morgan.

I think that's probably the only reason, he's there for an injury. Same for Spence with the full backs. Although if say Kane gets injured and starts Watkins, if he doesn't work out and he goes to the bench then brings on Gordon or Rashford to play as the striker, this selection is going to get serious questions if Toney ends up being maybe 4th of 5th choice over taking a genuine threat on the ball like a Palmer etc.

The only one I disagree with is MGW. He should be on the plane

It's not that he wasn't a good Premier League striker but International football and especially international tournaments football is different. He has 7 caps and only 3 of those in major tournaments which total 42minutes. When the backup to Kane is Watkins who while having 20 caps only 3 of those are in major tournaments totalling 57 minutes then Toney being the the other backup is worrying if Kane gets injured

    Stones over Maguire?
    Spence over Hall?
    Madueke over Bowen?
    Henderson over MGW?

    Baffling!!!

Spence could potentially be a Championship player going to the WC. When did that last happen? Steve Bull probably, I think he was even a third division player (current L1) when he played in Italia 90.

Brilliant finish from Bowen, with his weaker foot. Crazy that he’s not on plane to the USA.

Because of a goal against a team with injury issues and was on the beach? He was absolutely anonymous up until that point, just as he has been for much of the season.

He'll get a move this summer and hopefully that'll rejuvenate him but he's still got plenty of work to do to recapture the form that first got him the call ups.

Shame the fact that he has more goal involvements than any other England player this season has probably escaped your notice

It hasn't but it definitely helps when he taking free kicks, corners and takes penalties.

If that's how you want to judge him then fair enough but he's been a massive part of an absolutely dreadful West Ham team that were relegated, playing nearly every minute and I'd expect any honest West Ham fan to agree that he's been pretty much as poor as the rest of them.

If you're asking would I take him, possibly but not as a starter. Dreadful is a matter of opinion, but it's being measured against the other EPL teams, it's not like 26 points and 20th.

I agree that he was anonymous, as I posted to you at half time. Leeds were far from on the beach; they were easily the better team for the first hour and could easily have been three goals up before we scored.
Bowen has been nowhere near his best this season but still has some of the best goal involvement stats in the PL, despite being in a poor side. My point was that his finish for the second goal was superb. To beat the keeper from that angle, with his weaker foot, was extremely difficult. Form is temporary but class is permanent. I still think a below par Bowen would add more to the England squad (not as a starter) than Madueke. England take corners too and Bowen’s are usually excellent.
