Because he's not very good at test match cricket.

 

Not many of them are by the look of it, Yet it will be the one day players who cannot play test cricket that give the best performances, The One day team with Morgan as captain would not have lost the first Ashes match.

 

How's Jason Roy doing?

 

Well, that was a cracking test match.

Jofra Archer was blistering, although I'm worried we will finish him off by the end of the Summer. That was a lot of overs to bowl.

Impressed with Jack Leach as well. He looks as though he can get into a good rhythm and bowl with control.

The innings from Ben Stokes was superb. He has found his confidence again after the World Cup. I felt he'd lost a bit of his presence at the crease after the court case, but that ability to dominate the bowling is back.

England have got to think about Jason Roy. I thought he'd do okay as an opener but his technique doesn't look up to it. Maybe move to number four and move Denly to open?

 

Totally different game, as Jason Roy is finding out. Some excellent one day players, such as Stokes, can adapt to both formats, but there are quite a few who specialise in one format or the other.

Plus, Morgan is considering standing down from one day captaincy anyhow, due to recurring back injury

 

Great effort to try force a result.

Whilst I hope Smith is alright I wouldn’t mind him sitting out of the next test! Every player should have to wear the protection on the back of the helmet, uncomfortable or not.

Good performance though, someway to making up for the shambles in the first game.

 

If he was concussed there might be a mandatory period he has to rest before playing again.

Obviously not good to see someone injured but this is a massive development in England's favour.

I've got a shocking revelation to make. I voodoo'd Smith and I feel terrible. I kept checking in on the score and seeing wickets tumbling for Australia but Smith's score growing and the lead shrinking. 'Won't someone just shoot that fcker.' I said to myself. Next time I checked he'd retired injured.

Have you actually seen the english one day players try to play test cricket?
To be fair the aussie batters are not much better but they are just waiting to unleash ex-tyke mitchell starc on us.
So i am pretty confident the convicts will keep the 'urn but thats ok as england are finally one day champions in 50 over cricket.

Of course, nothing straight forward for the men in blue.
But if i am wrong i will gladly get that pint, mostly 'coz i'll be delirious.
