does it matter...or are you simply looking for another stick to beat the owners with?

I understand why the few haters...hate. We have been so successful in the past that they simply can't understand why anyone wants to change the way we run the club, the way we are organised in our team management, the type of players we recruit, what we do about the pitch.... Why, Why, WHY aren't we doing it the way we have always done it?

Hey guy.....major update. We haven't been successful in the past! The club is a Division 4 club in a Division 4 city....a few years in the past 25 out of those lower divisions doesn't change that.

What the new board are trying to do is change that, put a base in place that can build to longer lasting success not some flash in the pan, throw some money at a few players, get promotion and then....bang.... 2 years later be back here. That would please a large number of supporters....well the first bit would but when relegation came (and it would) there would be rioting on the terraces.

And if they personally make money on the way then good on them. They didn't put there money into the club to lose it. They invested for two reasons. They want to own a football club because they like football and they believe they can grow a club like Bradford and they think it could be a good investment long term....they will make money.

I hate to do this ....bring this up again but if they hadn't fired McCall we would not be having these conversations. Some will never get over the fact that they fired a Bradford Legend.

Get over it guys. Any other club of our stature would be happy to be where we are right now.

And thats not a lack of ambition it's realistic view of who and where we are.

    Norman

As I've said before, I understand the model and I can see how it could work and I'm more than happy to buy into it. I'm also reasonably happy with the player recruitment, so far, as it fits into the model.

However, I am concerned about Edin's management style and I think its this in particular that is worrying others.

Agreed. There’s no doubt it’s risky and there’s no doubt it will, and has, upset a lot of people. As fans we will often only see the outcome of decisions, not the thinking and strategy behind it. This can make it hard for us to understand.

IMO the last few years have been extremely enjoyable and successful in that we have made year on year progression (apart from last season). However, when you look deeper it’s mostly the clubs who have the financial ability to go out spend more freely, who get the success. We don’t have this so we MUST start to think differently. Take a look at every industry out there nowadays and those who choose to take risks and think outside the box, often are the ones who are successful.

For me, Collins appointment COULD actually be an absolute master stroke. Given the risk and lack of experience/history I can imagine he is a cheaper option than any experienced coach we interviewed. However If he is as good as Abbott and Edin say he is, then these savings on funds can be reinvested. Let’s not forget we also have to cover the essential pitch and training ground improvements.

I’m completely behind Edin’s strategy. It’s hard to see good professionals like Doyle go, and the nature of how (if rumours are to be believed) don’t sound
great to us as supporters. However again, i always believe there is more to the situation than we hear.

I really feel if we are to seriously progress in the future, something had to change, in the absence of a significant windfall of money. So I’ll back Edin on this and be patient. The worst thing that could happen is we turn into Blackpool and install a toxic atmosphere within the club. Unless we have significant evidence to do so, I hope we can all try to remain open minded and judge this strategy on actual results.

How many times has @Norman Corner@Norman Corner used the word "we", I'd suggest even though his comments about our history as a club is about right, he fails to tell us why they wanted to change what had been a very sucsessful period during the latter years under Mark, Julian and of course Phil Parkinson.
By all means come in and see how they can inprove none footballing income but leave the football side to the profesionals, as they said they would at the time of buying the club, and intoduce Edins ideas as and when required.
He can preach the gospel according to Edin as much as he wants (as a paid employee I suspect) but as Bradford City fans with many years of allegiance to our club many are far from happy at the way these guys have come in and told us they know best, a very intersting season awaits.

Not sure if you are deliberately missing the point or you are a first rate WUM.

The concept you describe is all well and good if you are signing players that will genuinely improve and become assets. Big risk as are most transfers. I think we will all agree so far.

But where some are getting lost is how we move forward as a club. Say Riley fulfills his potential, then what? We keep him and build a team with him that can get promoted and sustain life in the Championship? Or do we sell him for the first big offer we get, keeping some money back to sign his ‘youthful’ replacement (and start the cycle again) and giving Rahic/Rupp a return on their investment?

Are we trying to build a team that can get promoted and competitive in the higher league, or improving players to self-fund?

    Which is it?

You keep referring back to McCall and whilst many of us were unhappy with how he was treated and forced out, this has nothing to do with how fans see a flaw in their model.

You seem so sure that their way is the way forward, obviously the turmoil at the club Rahic has caused has drifted over your head somehow, Parkinson saw it coming, McCall saw it, Grayson saw it, Mason saw it and left the club he loved, prospective managers/head coach interviewed saw it and turned us down flat.
Can you not see that Collins only got the job because nobody else wanted it, i repeat nobody, he probably only took the job because he was bullied into it. the club is poisoned, Rahic has poisoned it with his attitude towards the staff, players, and what is now becoming a large section of the supporters.

And everything in your response is no different to mine...an opinion a what if, maybe, possibly, I think, IMO.....

We don't know for sure ANYONE turned us down. We don't know that Parkinson moved because of the new ownership (it could simply be he thought Bolton was a better opportunity and they offered more money). We don't know that Mason simply decided that he had taken the role as far as he could, we don't know that Collins didn't apply for the job because he didn't think he would get it but was persuaded by others (not Edin) that he should have a go and so threw his hat in at the last moment. We don't know if Collins worked and worked on the recruitment team to persuade them he could do this. We don't know that the other applicants wanted the gig but the recruitment team didn't get the right feeling from them...we don't know....repeat we DON'T know.

I like the recruitment of young, hopefully, up and coming players we can develop. I like the fact we have a young manager who will be keen to use the platform to either take us forward or get spotted by a larger club and move on up that way.

So what happens is. I try to look at it from a positive angle. I take the optimistic track. I believe, really, I believe that the board and management team are trying to build this club up from the foundations and not take short term decisions.

Whereas the Edin haters are taking the opposite view. They view every decision negatively, They take a pessimistic track on everything that is being done.

We simply disagree ... and that is part of being on the forum.

However there is one major difference. The negative/pessimistic team have made this personal. It is all about Edin and everything is down to him. Which is why I can't really take any of you seriously....you have made it about a single person and you make if, possibly, I heard, IMO statements cloaking them as 'facts' in an attempt to prop up your argument when...WE DON'T KNOW!

You can either bleat and whine all day or you can lift up your eyes and look at this positively and move on.

    It's a simple choice....

I support the chairman 100%. Had a look at the pitch yesterday looks great. Time will tell if it holds up through the winter like. I like the way the squad is shaping up yes young and unproven in the majority however I think there is still some old heads in their to guide the young ones. I’m excited that we have a young unproven English coach at the helm. Everyone has to be young and unproven at some point in their career.

My concerns are if the shit hits the fan is Edin going to back him? Who knows!

If we start badly is a squad based mainly on youth and inexperience going to be able to cope with the pressure?

I think in the main all Bradford fans will get behind the team and the coach but how long will it be in to a bad run the valley parade turns toxic on the chairman and it filters down on to the field.

I really do get what edin is trying to do and if he pulls it off, it’s a big if at this point, he will soon become a legend of this club.

Fans/media seem to create a massive stor closed season and second guess everything that is going on and every descisions that’s been made in the main a lot of this is based on rumour not hard fact.

I think you have to give edin some credit for his resilience and determination to deliver what he said he would.

I would love to see a young hungry attacking Bradford team with a young hungry English coaching staff tear this league apart an if we can unearth a few real treasures on the way and sell them on for big bucks to improve our club the sobiet.

Finally it is a big big gamble what Edin is trying to do , it goes against the norm for sure, however I believe it’s a calculated risk and he is not going to jeordise the club financially which has happened in the past, if you don’t risk you don’t get reward.

Let’s get behind the lads an be the twelfth man CTID

You’re not a very good WUM. The attention seeking WUM, who goes against the majority died out a long time ago. At least be original if you’re on a wind up. It’s just boring.

I am neither a WUM or an Edin plant. But if I was I would rather that than be a Negative Nancy. I am optimistic and hopeful. I want the club to move forward and I believe the board are making decisions that could do this.

    Norman

ps. Insults such a 'attention seeking WUM' or '...need to be original...' neither hurts or amuses. I will retain my position despite the haters....hating.

What are you replying to me for, I just commented winner to @Bruce Bannister@Bruce Bannister post, but here goes,

Didn't we have a £200,000 release clause within Phil Parkinson contract, and another £100,000 in Steve Parkin's contract, why didn't the new owners tell Bolton yes you meet the get out clause and you can speak to them.

Mason was restricted in his day to day job, quite recently having all social media passwords and the like blocked by the club, you say "Mason simply decided that he had taken the role as far as he could" I'd suggest you could be correct certainly working under the present co-chairman, but it wasn't because he thought he had taken the job as far as he could, in many cases Edin would not listen, once again my way or the highway.

With regards our new coaches etc even though you keep telling us we don't know I find it rather simplistic to believe we interviewed several applicants none of them came up to our required level (because Edin says we never offered a contract to any of the applicants) yet Collins and Drury didn't come into the frame until the weekend Edin made the announcement,
Greg openly states in this video https://www.bradfordcityfc.co.uk/news/2018/june/greg-abbott-coaching-team/ that Edin had spoken through the summer and asked would he be able to help, advise and work on the grass if the appointment needed that, are you seriously suggesting the new head coach who came in would have allowed interference from Greg, he might have asked for Greg's opinion on players etc but I would have thought the new man would bring his own backroom staff in, or as you seem to be well versed about what's going on at the club will the likes of Chris Short, Steve Banks, Sam Collins, and Dayle Avison all be offered new contracts.
Your spin on so called Edin haters couldn't be further from the truth, many don't like the way the club has been handled since the New Year but we all want success for our club, why would we want failure we've seen enough of that over the years.
You quote "It is all about Edin and everything is down to him" of course it all down to him, ask the personnel who work for him at the club, or maybe have a word with some of our club sponsors who he has pissed off, you go on to say "Which is why I can't really take any of you seriously" yet you expect posters on here to take yourself seriously, your loyalty to Edin not the club is as tiresome as you say equally our questioning of Edin is.
Finally "You can either bleat and whine all day or you can lift up your eyes and look at this positively and move on" we can only make judgements on what we see and hear happening at the club, some are very much behind Edin and his vision, but others need to see his vision produce a bit of positivity both on and off the pitch, as last season was the first backward step as a club in the last 6/7 season and unfortunately it was under Edin's watch.

Hate to say this Norman but you take the biscuit for making things personal. Your comments on McCall go way beyond any kind of normal, well reasoned opinions. They descended into "personal" a long time back. BTW, that aside, I (as stated previously) think Edin is doing some good things with the club. Not everything, but some good things. Still, I supose I must be a hater, negative Nancy etc.... Bless.

    I would argue I didn't.

I think McCall was a great player but IS a crap manager. Other than that I actually don't know him as a person so have no comment to make on him in that area.

None of that is personal. I would suggest they are facts!

Hi Norman, you are right a forum is all about individuals opinions but as Tennessee says I can only believe you are being somewhat ironic in your views on making things personal. Apparently those who dont agree with you bleat and whine all day and are nancy's whilst you lift up your eyes (and see the light?!) - hell you sound like you are trying to put yourself up there with the great Civil Rights leaders over the years. Whether the Rahic model works or not is not the main issue for many reasonable people on this site, it is the way he has gone about it!
