East Coast Resorts

I didn't say I was bothered about their footy team Fordy, just reminiscing about my life. For the record I too have a soft spot for Filey, the good thing about being brought up in Bradford is being roughly the same distance from each coast.

 

And the problem is these days, ALL of the “ big resorts” are absolute DUMPS. (Whitby excepted)

 

I think we're much nearer to the west coast actually.

 

Southport is the nearest as the crow flies

 

Scarborough has had £17m spent on South Cliffs with a £7m development of the Spa Gardens just starting and £20m is going a 5-year town redevelopment. A hotel has just invested £20m on the Esplanade and The Grand is being renovated as we speak.

Scarborough Fair will be running year-long cultural art/music events based around the Spa and its open-air Theatre draws in the acts like Lionel Richie. And there's a £20m water park on the South Bay which is brilliant.

Whitby is 5 years ahead of Scarborough but that's the town where all the money is piling in right now.

 

Filey is great. Magnificent beach. Lovely gardens, brilliant walks unspoilt esplanades. Off topic but worth mentioning
