It's all conjecture at the moment, none of us really know. If Doyle has left due to the time he was taking to make a decision, it should also be a given than the others are also leaving for the exact same reasons. It may well the case, but as no one has admitted this yet the one's claiming that the club are moving on because Doyle was taking too long aren't really that confident in their assertions.

 

I think they will be more attracted to a club that has stated its 1st team ambitions
As a L1 club we will be pretty low on anyones radar

yes I understand the ethos and to an extent agree with it. But we have just released an experienced player in a key position. If we end up with 2 or 3 inexperienced defenders playing in front of an inexperienced keeper then that could ruin several budding careers.

 

Really sorry to see him go, as a League One keeper he was good, not exceptional but in the top six. Made the odd rickett but overall definitely a number one keeper rather than a bench warmer.

That said, no recriminations against the club here, he's had a contract on the table for a month and will have known all along that the club weren't going to increase on what they've offered, and I seriously doubt the new contract was on reduced terms.

Bottom line is if you are offered a new contract and don't like it, don't wait too long for new offer when there are no signals of one coming. The new season is fast approaching and the club have done right to say we've waited long enough for an answer.
