Surely he will have spoken to SM before he took the job. If not he seriously needs his head examining and deserves everything he gets

 

I’m sure he will. But as I say, any good manager willl back himself and think ‘I can turn it around’, especially if Rahic has made the right noises about ‘lessons learned’. Experiencing the reality is different.

 

I agree, but I don't understand how he doesn't seem to have brought any of his own staff in.
That bit I find very strange.
To keep Abbott & Drury now after he's been here for a while, does strike me as odd.
You would have thought, he'd want his own men in (unless he's been told otherwise)

Before you start losing faith in Hopkin, it's worth bearing in mind the similarities with our 2011 season. Back then, Parky came into the job a week earlier than Hopkin and by the 15th October 2011, we were 19th with 10 points after 13 games. Parky had been in charge for 8 of those games during which time we picked up 6 points. This season, Hopkin has been in charge for 7 games during which time we have picked up 4 points, and after 13 games in total, just like at the same point in 2011, we also have a grand total of 10 points but sit 3 places lower in the table as things stand at the moment. The highest league position we ever reached in the 2011/12 season was 16th and we finished in 18th and that was in league 2. I'm going to stick my neck out here and say as long as Edin doesn't panic and sack him, I think Hopkin will have us finishing higher than 16th this season.

Hopkin cannot be judged until next season. Whether he is still here or not, god knows?!
Regards him bringing his own team in, I don’t think this will happen, if at all, until January earliest. IMO, this season is already primarily about staying in this division. Secure that, and even more changes will happen.

 

Hopkin took this on so he’s quite rightly got to answer questions when he’s losing almost every game. I know we’ve lots of injuries and a sh*t squad but by god we are woeful and by his own admission he’s unable to stop the mistakes we are making week in week out.

That being said, it’s only right that he is given the January transfer window to alter our playing personnel for the better and given the remainder of the season to work with that.

 

I don't agree with all of his decisions but to put it into perspective, Parkinson, McCall, Grayson and Hopkin are all good, success, proven managers and the 4 of them at one point or another have been criticised for their bizzare team selections and tactics, and it'll be exactly the same if we were to bring in another high profile manager.

I'm not saying Hopkin should get a free pass but you usually know when a manager is responsible for the teams failure and it's pretty obvious that he's not responsible for the mess we are in.

 

Agree with that. People are very reactionary in this day and age though. Everything is now and instant and no one wants to wait for anything

 

If Hopkin is not here for 2 or 3 years minimum then we are in a desperate situation.

We cannot continue to sack managers and sign player after player hoping it will work.

He signed a two year deal. He should be here for that. Minimum

 

DH has definately been dealt a bad hand with this squad but he's also playing it poorly on top of that to make matters worse IMO. Playing 3 at the back with the low quality of players available to him is crazy and picking Kai over Ball/Miller is just inexcusable. Fair play though on the JOB signing but then obviously unlucky with the injury, so jury's out for me as I'm far from convinced as it stands.
