To be fair, getting DMH to Barnsley was a success, it's the getting him back where it went pear shaped.

I think we've had some great keepers over the years. Walsh. Clarke. Shwartzer. Coomb. Gould, Pickford. I didn't specifically mean we've unearthed some, but GSK is not the first keeper we've had on our books as a youngster, who we've sold on for money. There was another lad, can't remember his name now. But yeah, I'd say it's the one position we've actually done a decent job with over the seasons.

If memory serves me well, Martin O'Neil
applied for managers job here when he
started out on his managerial career but
He didn't get it and went to Wycombe
    instead!

Ah I'm with you. Walsh, Clarke - great keepers. But Schwarzer was the best of the lot.

With regards the youth team, defenders, defenders, defenders.

    Andy O'Brien.
    Mark Bower.
    Lewis Emanuel.
    Luke O'Brien.
    Reece Staunton.
    Jorge Sikora.

Even Jake Wright, who we let go, went on to have an excellent career.

Just a shame that in terms of midfielders, we've had Des Hamilton and Joe Colbeck, and in terms of strikers Oli McBurnie.

Simon Francis also. Came to us from Notts youth with the intention of being in our youth side, but quickly got into the first team. I thought he was an excellent player for us, and not suprised he’s had a decent career.

Yes there was a youth keeper, who I think went to one of the merseyside clubs, but as his name didn’t reappear, I assume that he didn’t get a professional contract and drifted out of the big time. The other young player was Niall Heaton who was a centre back, went to Liverpool, returned to City, failed to make it, last at Guiseley but even that was at least a couple of seasons ago.

Didn't join Wycombe until 1990 and we interviewed him for the job in Jan 1987 when Dolan got it. One went on to be an international manager and get an OBE, the other to manage Rochdale. However, Dolan did give us the most exciting team I've seen as a City fan. We battered some teams that season, and then of course 87/88 followed.
